OK Amiga FREAKS! I need help. (I know a rare time indeed) LOL
I need to get a PCMCIA to Compact Flash adaptor card for my A1200. I want to transfer files back and forth to my PC. I also want to back up my 80MB HD that is on it. What cards work and what software do I need?
Thanks!

My SanDisk CF adapter works fine. For software all you need is CFD and FAT95.
-
Will this work?

AmigaKit has one that works great (I bought one,) and comes with all the software you need.

Here's the direct link:

The PCMCIA Compact Flash adapter kit (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=440) is supplied with EasyADF software for quick conversion of ADFs and LHA files.
It is hard disk installable but a hard disk is not required as it can be used by the stand alone boot disk.
Of course, the EasyADF software is always being developed further and we will upgrade all existing customers software for free.

How do we go about getting that upgrade?

Just send email to Amigakit.

the point is it must be the older 16bit adapter. I think PC Card means 16 bit. And Cardbus was 32 bit. (it might be viceversa, need to check) So it should work. the maker doesn't (shouldn't) matter. maybe the size of the flash card you put inside matters (no bigger than amiga can handle). You also need to get the cfd driver and fat95 file system driver from aminet and install these on your amiga somehow.
btw, it seems like the cfd device also works for SD/MMC cards, but I didn't test extensively.

To quote Agard the indian agent from "McLintock":
"Now, why didn't I think of that?" :smack:
Seriously, I've emailed and PM'd.

Well, I didn't mean it like that :lol: . Hmm.. noticed this message (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24071) from Amigakit, so maybe their contact form gets thru more quickly.

Just got a SanDisk Connect Plus PCMCIA adaptor card and tried my 16MB Nikon Compact Flash card and installed CDF and Fat95. No go. When I try to mount CF0: it hangs my A1200. Any ideas???
-
I just tried a 1GB card and it works! hmmm..
-
It could be something about that card. Try formatting it on the PC or in your camera first. Maybe hardware incompatibility. I have a 2MB (don't remember the mfr) that won't work, but my SanDisk 256MB, 512MB, and 1GB do, as does the 4GB I just bought and now use as the hard drive.
-
OK having a major issue with the 1GB card! It randomly locks up machine and it reboots when I try copying to it!!! HELP!!!!
OK when I manually copied the files over one drawer at a time it went ok! WTF
-
lack of power or bad drivers ?
which drivers do you use ? (use version xxxxxxxxxxx).
My 1Gb Kingstone Elite Pro works well on my A1200,pegasos,pc, ....
-
Might it be that it's formatted with Fat32 and that fat32 isn't supported? Just a thought, and probably wrong at that.
-
Hmmm I will check the file system. I did drag over a drawer of a crap load of games from WB to the CF and it worked ok. This thing is nice!! Hey whats the largest CF card it can support? I see some 8GB cards are out...
-
I bought a sweex PCMCIA adapter (model NB100030) together with a kingston 512MB CF card.
I have an Amiga 1200. There is no Turbocard in the expension slot at the bottom of my Amiga 1200. I use WorkBench 3.0
I downloaded CDF and Fat95 and installed these.
Now I can see in Diskmaster that there is a
CFO: (DEV)
but there is no (VOL)
I changed also the CF0 file into:
FileSystem = l:fat95
Device = compactflash.device
Unit = 0
Flags = 2
LowCyl = 0
HighCyl = 0
Surfaces = 1
BlocksPerTrack = 1
BlockSize = 512
Buffers = 20
BufMemType = 1
BootPri = 0
Stacksize = 4096
Priority = 5
GlobVec = -1
DosType = 0x46415401
I can't read the CF card. What did I do wrong?
