Post by: Robert17 on September 03, 2006, 01:19:47 PM
Hey all, I just got an 040-2000, but it's saying defective in the early boot menu, does anyone know what the jumper settings are?

I have dug out my manual, jumpers are as follows:

Auto config memory (16-bit 68000 address space):
A1 absent, A2 present, B3 present = Disabled
A1 absent, A2 present, B3 absent = config 2MB*
A1 present, A2 absent, B3 present = config 4MB
A1 present, A2 absent, B3 absent = config 8MB
*recommended / default jumper settings

remaining memory (32-bit above 68000 address space) must be added with the "addmem" program on the install disk. If you have 4MB of RAM on the card at least 2MB must be 32-bit otherwise it will not run.

Processor select:
A3 absent, A4 present = Boot 68040 (default)
A3 present, A4 absent = Boot 68000

Cache:
C1 absent, C2 present = Enabled (default)
C1 present,C2 absent = Disabled

Burst:
C3 absent, C4 present = Enabled (default)
C3 present,C4 absent = Disabled

Motherboard type: (see lower LH corner motherboard)
B4 absent = B2000 motherboard (default)
B4 present = A2000 motherboard (older)

Non-nibble mode DRAMS:
B1 present = Fast page or Static column DRAM (most likely)
B1 absent =  Nibble mode DRAM (use this if unsure)

SIMM type:
B2 present = 1Meg x 8 - 80ns DRAM
B2 absent = 4Meg x 8 - 80ns DRAM

I hope this gets you up and running
