Hi,
I think that some people in the "25 questions" thread should ask Microsoft why don't they release Windows for Mac hardware and to Apple why don't they sell Ipods with WindowsCE.
I mean: you can't ask something to someone that have nothing to do with the question you ask.

As far as the majority (me included) of the Amiga users know, it's Amiga Inc. that's granting licenses to anything Amiga-related. So it's not such a weird question to ask.
Actually, if I've read the OS4 website from Hyperion (unfortunatley off-line now so I can't double-check, don't shoot me for creating false-hope) right and understood it right, Hyperion stated that OS4 could be re-compiled to other hardware as well. I don't know if they're the only people who decide on such a thing, guess Amiga Inc has a say in it as well. But I remember thinking at that time in the lines of: 'Okay, if I had a budget to pay 4 men-year development I could actually ask them to do a built on a platform.' I had to let go of the as I don't have that kind of money ;-)
So I think we would love to hear why we're on the PPC route and why AMD/ATi based is not an option... [could have named any combination, it's just an example]

If we talk about things that no one here clearly knows:
The licencing contracts between Hyperion and Amiga Inc haren't public yet, so no one exactly knows what Hyperion really owns of AmigaOS, or in other words, which rights Amiga Inc have moneyed to Hyperion. There are even recent debates (or FUD?) wether Amiga Inc owns really the copyrights of Amiga Name and IP.All of this is a complete mess because the contract between Amiga Inc and Hyperion is concerning only those two corporates and we don't know what it exactly refers about.
If we talk about that we see:
Facts just prove Hyperion is working on OS4 project at the best their resources can do. Facts just prove that Amiga Inc doesn't have any possibility the have control on how Hyperion is doing things. So the development of OS4 SEEMS to be completely out of hands of Amiga Inc.
So I do totaly Agree with Elwood, why asking OS4 things to Amiga Inc that has nothing to do with the development of OS4 desktop?
If we talk about what could have been announced by Amiga Inc/Hyperion ?
There were plans at time (os5?) to make Intent (the basis of AmigaAnywhere) behing the low level layer of OS5 (that would at that time mean having a good part Java implemented, and a platform independant HAL). Unfortunately, to use intent as the core of OS5 you must pay royalties to TAO (that's shure man), and probably pay them one more time to port intent to PPC architecture which is, as far as I know not done yet by TAO (although I must admit I haven't checked recently how intent improved).
Another thing now is to mind us if Hyperion would be ok to do this, after all they ported OS3 to PPC, added things here and there to the OS, beautifueled it a lot, and maybe even it would be a real hard work to adapt the current HAL os os4 to the intent one (you don't think that this would be TAo that adapts the current OS4 to Intent yeah?)
Hyperion now seems to have difficulties to achieve OS4, not because it's not achievable, but just that they work for OS4 since years, with few money income, and they probably can't afford to place more mans on the project to finish it ASAP.
So it just seems to me that Amiga Inc and Hyperion done business plans, tryed to followed them but now money lacks, Amiga Inc is doing what they can regarding AmigaAnywhere (and eventually give a hand to announce here and there an Amiga event), and Hyperion is finishing with difficulties OS4 on their side.
never in the last two years it seems to be that Hyperion and Amiga Inc have really worked together on the same project!
However, I'm shure if you ask to Hyperion or Amiga inc which relationships they to have together, no one will clearly reply you;)

Well... not asking is not getting answered.
Quite honnest, I don't care who sheds a light on the situation. It might be Amiga Inc, it might be Hyperion, it may even be Bill Gates or Gateway. I think that a clear statement as to WHY the OS isn't available on readily available hardware would be apreciated by a lot of people.
If one knows the obstacles, he can start gather the needed material to build a bridge to cross them.

They don't need to, new Macs can run Windows :lol:
IMHO the question of why OS4 isn't available for other platforms is valid, given that the only platform OS4 can legally run on isn't available to buy.
