Title: Searching for a coin-op arcade desperatly!!!
Post by: Cass on May 14, 2003, 12:05:22 PM
This one is not an Amiga conversion or something. It's just a coin-op game that is haunting me and i can't remember the title (I'd like to play it on MAME).

It released i think in '86-87, had the main character like turrican, that was landing from planet to planet (the green one, the blu one, etc.) getting out of his spacecraft, and moving (scrolling) from left to right while shooting everything that was on screen.

It was a nice game with the best graphics of it's time (256 or more?!). Hope to find out what is the name because it's impossible to get screenshots from each and every arcade or start checking blindly any rom that gets to me.
Anyone who have playied it on that time should remember it!!! Thank you all in advance.

Sounds possibly like Xain'd Sleena (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=S&game_id=10500)

On a slightly different tack, anyone remenber "Magnetic Fields" (Supercars, Lotus Esprit etc).  Anyone know the piece of classical music they ripped their tune from?  Took me about 7 years to finally find it!

Yup, although I don't remember the name by heart. I always crank up my stereo when booting a Magnetic Fields game... and when I did that with Space Crusade I broke the speakers when they started to scream and shoot right after the MF logo... :)

I think it could  be either Solar-Warrior (http://www.mame.dk/gameinfo/solarwar/) or Sidearms (http://www.mame.dk/gameinfo/sidearms/)

Too late...   :-P

Its Siegfried's Funeral March from Twighlight of the Gods , Richard Wagner (Gotterdamerung).  Theres a link on amazon.com.

Search in classical music for "Richard Wagner" and pick "Twighlight of the gods: Essential Wagner".  Disc1, Track2.

Wonder if Mag Fields ever paid royalties.....

@ DeXXo

Many years ago a magazine named PiXEL had reviewed the game whith that name "Solar-Warrior" which is a clone of Xain'd Sleena.
I just couldn't remember the title (i only remembered warrior-something... and i wasn't even sure for that), as for the magazine, it was lost somewhere that i surely can't find now.
Thank you all again, that was very important to me (it's one of the games that signed my youth as a gamer!).

I remember this too, it was also called "Soldier of Light" and there was an Amiga version under that name.
