As topic, I am having 2 LVD/SE terminators, are they OK with the csppc?? :-?
-
They should work for SE chains just fine as well as LVD chains. CSPPC requires SE termination (40MB/s speed, the oldest UW-SCSI3 chain), however for Amiga it's quite fast nevertheless.
-
OK then, I think I get some data corruption or something... some times files are lost, some time I can see them, but progs can't... how to reduce a little speed on the scsi chain? I have "1 LUN", "8 Transfer Offset", "20MHz Sync Period" and "Synchron" and "Reselection" enabled...

What brand and model is your hard drive?
Have you tried different cables/terminators? Your terminators are OK, but you never know if you might have a defective one, so having extras is useful for testing purposes. The same goes for SCSI cables.
-
unfortunattely I don't have other cables... got it and the terms brand new from eBay... I only have a 3-plug scsi cable... maybe I just test the hd? ...
-
Those terminators should work as long as the are "active" or sometimes called "active/negation". LVD stands for low voltage differential. Almost all consumer scsi devices are LVD. The other choice is HVD, sometimes called simply "differential scsi". This is a +5 volt system used in server environments, robotic tape libraries, dlt tape drives, etc.. As you might guess, the two standards are NOT compatible. Anyway, the answer to the question is yes, the LVD/SE terminators are what you need so long as they are specified as "SE Active". SE = "Single Ended" aka "Narrow" aka 8 data bits wide.

hmmm, they have encraved: LVD/SE and nothing more...
these I got: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3666&item=150009810355

@keropi:
Try lowering the SCSI busspeed from 20MHz, to say 10MHz and see if it makes any difference.

If they are not marked "Active" they probably aren't. Methinks you have regular passive terminatos. I have tons of scsi spares around here; terminators, passthrough cables, adapters, gender changers, you name it. If you pay for shipping I'll be happy to send you the cable and terminators you need. Lemme know if interested.. Dave

@stopthegop:
SE or LVD/SE terminators are deluxe active terminators.
@keropi:
Make sure the terminators are at the endpoints of the cable, not just after the last device in an end.

thanx stopthegop , but I just got these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130021454908&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=003
I think they will be OK...
thanks for the offer! :-D :-D :-D :-D

I lowered scsi bus mhz... but I installed x-arc and got a reboot!... damn

SCSI drives use a lot "+5v". Are you sure about the PSU ?? take a voltmeter to see that and what happen when it reboots.
-
I am using a 300W mATX psu convertet with an Elbox A4K PSU converter...
-
I don't care about written data since I got some 420W with this kind of print on it : "420W Silent noise killer PSU,Cuport AMd Pent1un 4,... " (true mistakes !!) and doesn't give more than 4.68V in place of +5V in "startup" load, you can believe me the system was unstable at all.
So take your voltmeter and check it by one of the many 5"1/4 PSU connectors !
-
OK, but I highly doubt this is the PSU's fault...except the fact it was expensive, it is way better than the original 145W PSU that many others use...
