Are either of these free to download?
I miss arkanoid so very much, but WHDLoad sounds like a great applicaiton too...
-
I dont know about arkanoid but whdload is kinda free, you will get a delay and a screen reminding you to buy it while loading games! but the price of it is penny compaired to most of the other amiga software.

Does it work on os3.1? The installer icon errors stating that it cannot find a file...

Yip as far as I know there's no problems with WHDLoad running on 3.1! what error message are you getting?
If its cannot find installer you need to copy installer to your C directory!
whdload requirements
CPU 68000 (68010+ is recommended because some installs require the VBR for the 'quit by a key' feature)
Kickstart 2.0 (version 37+)
a minimum of 1.0 MB RAM (sometimes more, it depends on the installed program)
Install notes
The most important thing is that the tools and WHDLoad are accessible without a path specification. Therefore the recommended place is "C:". WHDLoad can also be installed in the same directory where the program is located (notice that in the Project Icons of the Examples only "WHDLoad" is used, without any path).
The tools "DIC", "RawDIC" and "Patcher" should always be installed because they are required by many installs.

I'm pretty sure there is an HD installed version of Arkanoid somewhere on the internet. I'm not sure about its legality though.
Try checking the legal download sites.

Go to English Amiga Board and read the FAQ for where to download it.
-
The message i am getting is: "Unable to open your tool 'installer'"
install is in C: ...
any other ideas?

Make sure Installer is in there, install is another file. I'm not to sure where you can download the latest Installer but someone else here might know :)
