Title: UAE on Zaurus

Anyone with info about it? I'm thinking about getting a Zaurus and I have found the home page for UAE on Zaurus, but there is no information about running it ;-(

Just downloaded and tried it now.  It works but its a nightmare to use.  The config GUI doesnt fit on the screen properly and the emulation window is tiny.

If I get chance I'll play around with it from the command line and see if there is a way of rotating the display too.

BTW, the best place for Zaurus apps is Killefiz (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus)

Ahhh, so you have a Zaurus then! well you're the best person to ask if it is any good?

Now they are quite cheap, I really want one, basic diary function, MP3 player, and other stuff are all nice things to have on the move.

I want the Zaurus, as it is based on linux, thus I should be able to use some freely avaiable Music compoition software on it right? even make my own...
Where is the best source for music writign software on the Zaurus?

You can find them in the US for 199USD.

Mine cost 235£ in the UK a few months ago.
Btw, the SL5600 should be able to run UAE a bit better as it has a 400Mhz Xscale processor as opposed to the 206Mhz StrongARM in the 5500.
It has a lot of fancy apps available for the OpenZaurus version of the ROM...

And besides, Opie looks a lot nicer than Qtopia....

The 5600 is more than twice the price of the 5500!!! It is the low cost of the 5500 that is why I'm looking at the Zaurus at all :-)

Have been there already, looks like I'm gonna have to write my ownsoftware for it :-/

Should not be too difficult as the Z support SDL... all that remains to be seen is how it's audio input works.

Best place to get the 5500 is EBay.  Got mine for £175 from there, boxed as new!!!

They are good.  Not got the camera so not sure what thats like.  QTopia is OK and there is plenty of stuff available (see Killefiz).  Opie is much prettier but seems a little slower and I cannot get it to Sync with outlook either.  I got the latest release (opie) the other day and it only took 2 hours for me to crash it!

The best thing about them is the Keyboard.  Its amazing how quick you can get just typing with your thumbs!!!
