Title: a3000 cdrom issue
Post by: pierre on August 24, 2006, 08:55:49 PM
I did a fresh insatll of 3.1 on my a3k(d).  I installed asimCDFS v3.1 just as I have in the past.  I am using the same cd-rom I had used before.  (i had the system running 3,9 with bb2 and rom update).  No erros on install.  wired thing is that when I boot up with a  cd rom in the drive (os3.9) the machine frezes while mounting the asimCDFS!  Also if I boot with no cdron instered the system works fine EXCEPT it wount mount ANY CDROMS.  This system and hardware was working just fine befor I did the reinstall!  I did a quick format on the sys drive and left eh work: partition tha way it was. (I don't want to loose EVERYTHING).  Im realy frustrated, I just don;t understand why this going wrong.....I can't take anymore setbacks or reinstalls, please help.

My first thought is to try another CD-ROM. I've had CD-ROM drives go bad in all sorts of computer platforms and that's usually what they do.. freeze up when you try to access them.

Hi,
is your setpatch doing a ROMUPDATE ?
Try IDEFIX'97 drivers.

Its an A3000 so this would be a SCSI drive, right?  Any chance the SCSI IDs got changed around before reinstalling?  If not, I'd go with the previous suggestion and get a different drive.
