Title: A1200 PCMCIA grief
Post by: n9uxu on August 20, 2006, 06:50:10 PM
Greetings!  For those following my os3.9 install grief on the software thread, I've found the CD and network adapter problem.  The pins in the pcmcia slot are scrambled.  I know I was frustrated throughout, but I can't imagine how I managed to bend the pins as I have.  I've spent the last hour trying to unbend them into a workable package, but that isn't going to happen.

My motherboard is a 1D.1, so I hate to lose that, so does anyone know where I can purchase a compatible pcmcia slot?  Should be rather trivial to remove and solder in a new one.

Of course, since I am pulling the 1200 from the case, I should probably consider a a tower case.  Anyone know where I can snag one cheap?

Dave

Okay...since no pcmcia header sources come to mind, does anyone have a dead a1200, I can strip the header from?

RS Components (http://rswww.com/cgi-bin/bv/rswww/searchBrowseAction.do?obs=sObs&name=SiteStandard&No=0&N=0&Ntk=I18NAll&Ntt=pcmcia%20header&Nty=1&D=pcmcia%20header) sell a range of PCMCIA headers, starting from £2.60

Nope...I'm in the US...wonder how much it would be to send the dead mobo cross the ocean...
