This question might have been answered before, did some search on the site but nothing found... :-?
So, I plan to buy a Blizzard PPC and a G-Rex.
Is there an Mpeg I / II decoderd card for G-REX? And if so, is there any program that can use it? :-D
Thanx in advance :-)
-
what kind of card are you looking for?
a TV card ?

Hi Laser,
No I am talking about a MPEG II DECODING card (not ENcoding, DEcoding). Something like RealMagic etc. TV card has nothing to do with it...
Thanx for the reply though :-)
-
ah OK..you are talking about old DVD play cards with MPEG hardware decoding
I sill have one here..it's a Hollywood+
I used it on on my old K6-2-400mhz but now on my athlon XP 2.0ghz is obsolete and I not use it
That cards are old and not realesed anymore cause actual cpu power is enough to play DVDs or MPEG files without problem
anyways I don't think that G-rex or mediator have made drivers for that cards
also ..there are not any amiga program to play dvds or mpeg files using hardware decoding
bye, Laser

That is EXACTLY the point! PPC is NOT powerfull enough to play DVDs :-D

Hail Animagic, chief of the PASOK followers in the Aegean sea.
:python:
there is no drivers for a mpeg2 decoder card for g-rex, as always they were planned like the usb drivers but never saw the light...
there is support on mediator though for a tv-tuner that encodes in mpeg, but I don't know if it can be used to decode or if it supports mpeg2 and not just mpeg1 ...

@Animagic
There is no mpeg decoder support for G-Rex or Mediator. As always Mediator was supposed to get this for years. I think it's safe to forget it now (as those cards are no longer being made anyway).
PPC is NOT powerfull enough to play DVDs
My G4 1GHz is ;-)

I know that a ppc of 240mhz can't do that
but think that even most of that cards haven't drivers for windows xp....so don't expect found drivers for the amiga
The only solution that I see is:
get one of this cards and
make yourself the drivers and make your self a video player
bye, Laser
