Because of the mailing with (I believe it was) Flashlab, I bought the kickrom 3.1 chips thrue Vesalia.de.
The chips costs € 23,20
But I do not live in Germany, so the international bank shipment gonne cost me 13,50 extra!
However, it seems less then buying it thrue for example ComputerCity.biz. CC sells them for €35,-- without post and packing! (about € 6,20)
But, thats that!
Now I have the kicks, how to install them....
probably somewhere explained on the net.
Any suggestion how to find...
'how to install kickrom in amiga'

You should have received some installation instructions which are specific for your Amiga model - it isn't possible to give generic instructions for installing the kickstart ROMs.
We have half a dozen different sets of printed documentation with diagrams for the different Kickstart 3.1 ROMs. Which Amiga do you have?
-
I would only say that if you want to preserve your 3.0 chips investigate a chip extraction tool. I found it impossible to remove them without bending the legs - but you my be more skilful.

I forget this everytime!
I will adjust my signature which describs my Amiga.
I have: hardware:
A1200 met 250MB harddisk 2,5" intern.
Kickstart 39.106 {exec.ver. 39.37} WorkBench 40.42 (diskversion)
Blizzard 1230 Phase IV MK, 50MHz, 32MB RAM met SCSI kit met 32 MB (totaal dus 64MB) (spec. CPU 68030/ 68882fpu/ 68030mmu.
(On the Scsi kit) external Hd 800MB
Midi interface (2x in 2xout 1x true)
Yamaha psr-540 keyboard
Roland EM-10 keyboard

1 Switch off your Amiga and disconnect the power.
2 Antistatically discharge yourself.
3 Place the A1200 with the keyboard facing down on a soft surface. Remove the five screws that secure the casing and retain them safely. Turn the computer around and remove the top case carefully.
4 The pair of KickstartTM chips can be accessed through the open space in the metal RF shielding. The sockets are labelled U6A and U6B on the motherboard. Please note the alignment of the chips and escpecially take note of the notch embedded into one end of each chip. Using a suitable tool (e.g. a flat blade screwdriver), carefully remove the ROMs from the sockets. You can prise them out of the sockets ensuring that you do not bend or break any of the ROMs' fragile legs.
5 Now you can install the 3.1 ROMs into the empty sockets. Place ROM labelled 391773 into the lower socket marked U6A. Place ROM labeled 391774 into the upper socket marked U6B. Please note that the orientation of the notches must match! The sockets are also larger than the actual KickstartTM ROMs. The unused contacts remain free on the left hand side (nearest the ROM's notch)
6 Ensure that the fragile legs of the ROM chips are not bent during installation and make good contact with the receiving sockets. The ROM chips should be installed level with minimal gap between them and the sockets.
7 Reassemble your Amiga.
Next time you know what Amiga store to go to ;-)

god bless commodore...

Hi Amigakit,
I visited you website, looks great. Time to investigate it all! (If I only had some more)
As soon as I receive the chips, I will get to it straight away. Remember my name, FAME!

@EL zorro
All banktransfers is EU are free.
That is if you set option "share costs" in the assignment to your bank.
As you are from the Netherlands it shouldn't cost you anything to transfer the money.
I know as I purchased a lot by vesalia.
-
Where the hek was AMIGAKIT when I installed mine. lol
My old ROM were removed with a screw driver.
EEEEEEEEKKKKKK
Do not attempt that PLEASE.
I almost went right through the motherboard.
Other then that it is fairly easy to do. :-D
-
I cant believe that people bend up their legs pulling their chips.
-
I will post a piece of the confirmation and my bank account:
VESALIA

Do you know the dimension of the chip?
in milimeters, please, because inches is not by best why to calculate.
I need to know this to get a chip removal tool.
thanks

Pieter,
You really don't need a removal tool just patience and common sense. I myself really use a screwdriver with a very small tip, you can buy them at the GAMMA or PRAXIS.
When you want to remove the chip just put it in the end of the chip and it will come loose, then do it on the other side until it is fully lifted out of it's socket.
Nothing fancy about that.
-
For every job, a PRAXIS job.
That's what I said, GAMMA
Thanks, I just want to be precaution with fragile objects.
:-D
thanks Henk

Banktransfers from one EU country to another should not cost one penny more then a banktransfer within your country. That is defined by EU law. Some banks still "offer" the old way of transfering and it is perfectly legal for them to charge this much, but upon request they should make a standard EU-transfer with no additional costs. Any hornest bank should handle it like that right away without you specially requesting it.
-
Yes that is right.
I never payed a penny with all my banktransfers.
That is several to germany(vesalia) a few to France(Amiga repair center).
You should contact your bank what is causing this issue.
The only way it will cost you extra is if you put extra "speed" on it.
This is an extra service and will cost you extra.

Vesalia accept PayPal payments so you could have saved yourself 13.50!

What was I thinking? (Did my brains ever work anyway?)
It never occured to me that I had to deal with international costs, untill I saw the overview of my bankaccount.:-o
I will ask my bank why they charge that much, and I will let them explain to me how I can do business without charges!
Thanks for the warning/suggestions.

Today they have arrived! Yeah!
What?
The kickstart roms 3.1 I ordered by Vesalia.de
Nice and well packed and unharmed!
OK! now what?
I will replace the roms later this week or month.
(I have a short holiday ahead next week)
What can (or should)I expect when I have replaced the 3.0 with the 3.1?
I have this (english) manual of WB 3.0. Will this still be enought to know?
What are the new applicatons I have to know/see?
PLease inform me.
Frisby
:-?
-
Now nothing! Just update your sig and be cool!
No seriously, you could replace your WB 3.0 with a 3.1 install. The leap is not that much and I doubt it would be worth it. You could also opt for installing 3.9 on your system.
Edit: you'll need workbench 3.1 disks. You got those, do you?

No, I don't
Will this give a problem?
Is there a copy available on Aminet or something like that?

If you pay electronically (I use Postbank and Rabobank accounts) you just have to go to the "betalen buitenland" (pay abroad in english) option, and fill in the IBAN code and SWIFT/BIC code that is provided on Vesalia's page. Doesn't cost you one single eurocent.
Cheers,
Eric
