Title: HD Won't format

Hello All,
             A few months ago I took a 300 meg Ide HD And put in in my amiga 500.  I formated it and installed 3.1. I am attempting to do the same thing again however it won't format. I can reinstall 3.1 but the drive won't format. What am I missing.  THANKS TO ALL!

Can you describe the steps you're taking to format the drive, and also any error messages you're seeing?

If I try formating with 3.1 install dks it says I have the wrong rom  If I try with the 2.1 disk It just does not reconise the drive at ALL   Thanks! I have mad no changes since the last time I did this.

Toolbox, Select english, The the partiction screen come up but all is grayed out   Thanks!

Sorry Pal,  I left something out.   Under Interface address there is a error message Driver not installed  Thanks again

Hi,

How is your hard drive connected? What make/model of drive interface are you using?

Sounds like the 2.x ROM doesn't have a device driver for your HD's interface...

Yes It sounds like that to me too however it formated about a yr ago  At-500 Is the interface

After searching for a third time today I have just found the install disk for the controller that was in a floopy drive that had been removed. Your comments about the device driver had reminded me there was a missing dsk and forced me to look again Thank You much!!!!!  N3vpd
