Title: Getting a Blizzard 1260 -> Is Chip Revision important?
Post by: Donar on August 14, 2006, 08:36:37 AM
Hello,

i like to get my hands on a Blizzard 1260. It seems that the 68060 was a long time in XC (not final) state. I want to use the card in the original A1200 case and i heard that some Revisions of 68060, get rather hot... So any advice for what cards i should look out? Or does it not matter at all?

Bye

Hi Donar

I have a Revision 1 in a Blizzard 060 and it does get warm but I think they are meant to because they have no fan like an 040 needs. But I have no problems with it overheating and it has SCSI kit attached too which gets hotter than the 060 if truth be told.

Cheers

Look for Mask E41J which is the latest and best 68060er.

Was this E41J Mask already in production when the Blizzard's were made? Or are card's with this Mask "refurbished" ones?

I don't know when this Mask was established but there are 3 Masks around on such cards. E41J, G65V and F43G which is the oldest.

Ok, thanks for your replies. I will have a look if i can get a 1260 with a not so old mask for a reasonable price. But it seems that also an old should do the trick.
