Title: A4000/OS 3.9 max partition size
Post by: gdanko on August 11, 2006, 09:16:20 PM
I believe that even in OS 3.9 my boot partition needs to be <= 2 GB. But is there a limit on other partitions? I have a 200 GB disk I'd like to install in my 4000T :D

Using my Amiga 4000D, coincidentally, I just brought home 160GB IDE drive.  HDToolBox detected it as 127.9GB, but the partitioning facility only sees 7GB.

This is the same system which has been partitioning and formatting 40GB drives no problem.

It's a Quantum with a Cap Limit jumper, and I haven't played with that yet (gotta move the Amiga off the dining room table per the female companion unit. :-))

I think it has something to do with the drive parameters. I tried a 120 with little luck.

there is no need to have the boot partition more than 1gb. as for the others, use sfs (http://strohmayer.org/sfs/files/SFS_1.254_68k.lha) in the rdb of the disk and not ffs.

-edit-
this means reformat the drives so make back up if there are any data on the disk before attempt anything.
