Title: Delfina 1200 vs. M1230 XA
Post by: Commodore on August 10, 2006, 07:20:43 PM
I've recently bougth a delfina 1200 (clockport edition). It gave me a yellow screen when in the first boot. Then, i've removed the M1230 XA accelerator and all went ok.

Any tips?

Regards.

pd: Somebody have a delfina 1200 with M1230 XA working?

Hi,

Have you tried to remove the sim from the acc board? You also wanna check witch A1200 Rev board you have got. Maybe a sim with a lower capacity in MB might rule out some errors.

Don't know if it works but it might be worth the try

Gr Henk

What Kickstart do you have (3.0 or 3.1)? Apparently the memory isn't autoconfig under 3.0 and that for me might indicate other issues with Kickstart 3.0 aswell?

Timing mod might need to be done aswell (A1200_fixes.lha (http://main.aminet.net/hard/misc/A1200_fixes.lha) from AmiNet).

@Commodore,
Just reading the M1230XA manual again and there's a note about its onboard clock. It says the clock chip on the board should be removed if you have a real time clock installed on the motherboard. Since your Delfina card fits a clockport, I assume you have a mobo clock (?). Sorry if this is a stupid assumption, but I know zilch about the hardware side.

Maybe this is where any posible timing problems are occuring?

You could try removing the M1230XA clock chip and the battery. It's the third chip from the left, top row as you view the board from the 'front' (CPU side)with the edge connector at left. Use a small screwdriver to pry it out of its socket.

Cheers, JaX

Thanks for the replies.

@JaX
Nope, it's not working. I've removed the battery and RTC. The motherboard revision is 1D4 "ligth green" (UK).

@Brian
That mod is FAR beyond my soldering skills.

Btw: The accelerator boards works perfectly if delfina isn't connected. The timing problems arise when you use the clockport with an accelerator card?.

Regards.

It's just an idea, some turbos don't work correctly without the timing mod done. Don't know if it will solve the issue, it's just a friendly suggestion to what might help.

Reason of your problems is revision of your a1200 mobo, it's moust likely 2.B ?
