Title: Mixer, Warp3d, VisualPrefs problems
Post by: balrogsoft on August 10, 2006, 03:31:46 PM
Hi, i still having some software problems with my A1200, first i can get work Mixer utility, it crash at startup on my A1200, and my SB128 card don't work. I have a S3 Virge gfx board, i read somewhere that some pci devices need Voodoo 3 to work correctly. Maybe this is the problem...

I can't find the gfx board address, i used "findGfxAddr" utility, but it don't output anything, Warp3D don't work, it don't find any hardware driver, i added some env variables to configure the hardware driver, but i need the gfx board address to made it work. Another problem related with gfx board is that all the 24 bit screen modes has disappeared, i can't add this modes with P96 config utility, and this screen modes has been working nice past weeks.

Another problem is Visual Prefs, i can't it get working with bitmap gadgets, when i set any bitmap gadgets theme, my Amiga hang at startup, only show the Workbench menu bar. The strange thing is that it worked some minutes, but after some  resets it crashed again, it's a very strange behavior.

I hope that someone can help me... Thanks in advance...

All you need to do to get Mixer to work is, after you've installed the mixer software, edit the startup sequence so MUI is started before mixer is started as the software requier MUI and crashes if it's not running (would be nice if it stated MUI missing but no... CRASH!).

I've only worked with Voodoo3 myself so I can't help you othre than to say that the P96 needs to be installed selecting CV3D as the videocard though it's not the correct one and after that manually edit the monitor file to fit the actual card you have installed. After that edit the screenmodes using P96Mode and make sure no screenmodes use "interlace" as atleast Voodoo doesn't handle this (resulting in the screen get filed but with only half the actual graphic).

Thanks for your help, i have MUI 3.8 installed, i will take a look when is MUI initalized. About graphic card issues, i know that it is installed correctly, i installed as CV3D, i renamed monitor to Virge, and i changed the config files to work with my Virge board, as i said it had been working 24 bits modes, but for a strange reason it disappeared... maybe some of the test to make Visual Prefs and Warp3D work affected to Picasso96.

A configuration recovery tool for WB would help to recover old configurations, maybe i will make this utility if it already don't exist.

Mui was initialized after execute Mixer, Mixer don't crash now, but now says that can't open mixer.library, i think that the sound card was not installed correctly or the sound card is not supported. I will try others sound cards that i have.
