I have a bunch of floppies tucked away with ANIM files made with Deluxe Paint 4.
Is there any easy way to take these files and convert them to something usable?
I no longer have an Amiga.
Thx!

If you have WinUAE, you can run your DeluxePaint IV anim and have it output to an AVI or MPEG file.

I say Borrow an Amiga with a Genlock that has S-Video OUT and record it to a DV camera that has S-Video input. this way you preserve the Animations looking spectacularly accurate. Then later if you wish to degrade them to AVI or MPEG you can do so.
Just boorrow.....those animations must be preserved at highest quality.
But for best preservation.....put them on WInUAE and convert the frames of all animations into GIF frames if they are 256 colors or less......if they are HAM or HAM8, then save each frame as PNG or some uncompressed 24bit picture format............then later you can always recompile them back to an Amiga. Heck.break them up as IFF frames and save that!.then later convert to GIF and 24bit.

A poked around and found a post which refers to this player:
http://www.randelshofer.ch/multishow/download.html
It looks pretty good for at least viewing the files, though it doesn't show promise for conversion.
In the same post someone mentioned that Personal Paint can convert ANIM5 to animated GIF. Just some thoughts.

I'm fairly sure MainActor can convert them into FLI or FLC format. There are probably loads of programs on Aminet that can split the anim into individual frames, then you can use another program to rejoin as an AnimGIF.
