I hate to state the obvious, but eBay UK is a cheap place for plentiful A1200s!

Not like here where they're like gold dust!

@juv: sorry but Amiga is no longer a cheap hobby where you can pickup people's cast-offs for next to nothing. people are trying to return to the Amiga in their droves! Demand is at a peak, supply is sparse and people are literally dying in the streets through a lack of Amiga hardware!! Only the rich have what it takes to fulfil their appetites: Money. You need lots of green shimmering leaves of persuasion to encourage Amiga hardware owners to part with their rare and precious goods these days! So stop eating my friend and start saving - because only the money talks our language.

@dillinger

I think that many people have started to see eBay (and similar auction sites) and Amiga related forums as their only options of obtaining Amigas. Yes, if looking only there one will notice a slight increase in value.

However, I don't think that regular people that isn't into Amiga anymore put much worth into their old computers stuffed into their closets. It is perfectly possible to obtain an A1200, here in Sweden, for not more than €50 if one just takes the time to do some looking around. Besides, I bought my latest A1200 for €30 from a user on an Amiga forum, and it even included 3.1 ROMS.

While the value might have gone up somewhat, I do also think that Amiga interested people in some ways wants the price to stay somewhat high if they themselves feel into selling of their hardware, earning some quick bucks. In the end, it seems like even the most die-hard Amigans tend to part with their hardware if they just get the right deal... my guess is, the higher the bids on eBay, the more hardware will pop up, the more hardware that will pop up, the lower the bids will be when people see that the hardware maybe isn't that rare after all. Supply and demand, you know. It will keep going up and down for years to come, I believe.

A1200 are not nearly rare, as of yet, and while there might be more people coming back to the Amiga these days than before, the supply is not close to drained yet. The problem is rather finding somone to supply the hardware, might it be eBay, people on Amiga related forums or people in general.

Rare is certainly not the word I would use when describing the availability of the A1200 (but that is just my opinion).
