Does anyone know if anyone still repair these? (for a sane price) ive had a Cyberstorm 233 card laying around a good while now wich i cant test myself as i have no A4000 anymore! however the story behind the card is this: a guy bought this brand new from (Datakompaniet in norway) long ago (its a DCE model) it never worked for him only a black screen and has since been tried on 2 other a4ks giving the same! Datakompaniet refused to take the card back blaiming the original buyer for destroying the card himself (normal Amiga shop policy).

Never heard of http://www.amigacenter.com ?

You are aware that lots of CyberstormPPC's stopped working because of draggled wrap connexions and worked again flawlessly after cleaning the contacts, aren't you?
I experienced this twice during the last 9 years.
Each time I used the sprays from Kontakt Chemie (Kontakt60 and KontaktWL) to get the draggled wrap connexions on the CSPPC and the A4k MoBo cleaned.
The one spray is to etch the dirt and the other one is to wash it away.
Just give it enough time to dry afterwards before you power it up again!
Would be a shame if you send your card in for repair and wait for months, while there is nothing wrong with it except draggled wrap connexions - so I would try this option first...

Hi Dandy,
What does "draggled wrap connexions" mean? Cords inserted in wrong sockets? (sorry, I'm not a tech head)

What does "draggled wrap connexions" mean?
The Fast Slot port. :-)

Ah, thank you kind Sir. (Good thing this:oops: smiley, does not have pink cheeks :-D )

Well, according leo.org "draggled" means "covered with dirt" and "wrap connexion" means "pluggable connection"...
If you know better suited words then please let me know!

Dirty CPU slot connectors?

Yes - the connectors between the CSPPC and the MoBo...

Hello Dandy,
I just didn't know what was meant by the whole thing, ie. which connections, rather than what words were employed to convey the meaning. :-)

If you do need to get it fixed the guy in France thats
mentioned here is the guy you want to send it to. I
sent mine to him a year or so ago, he fixed it and
got it back to me in Illinois inside of 30 days like he
said he would and I haven't had any problems with it
since.

Hi Dandy,
'draggled' is not really appropriate here. It usuallt refers to something wet and dirty, as from being dragged on the ground, or through mud. If one fell into a creek, one could be said to be bedraggled.
I'm also not sure that they are 'wrap connectors'. Unfortunately, the term 'pluggable connection' does not hold a one-to-one correspondence with the term 'wrap connection'.
Someone offered the description 'dirty CPU connectors', which I presume is a more apt alternative.
Hope that helps.

Stachu100 (Stan Sędłak) both repairs and upgrades them.

curious ..how much?? $$ ..seems mine is missing a small transistor ..maybe the problem ..im in australia as well..seems expensive ..

I would personally pick Stachu100 for any CSPPC/BPPC repairs. If the problem is traced back to the PPC chip then he has the equipment and expertise to replace it, where as I understand Jean Jacques doesn't offer this service and will only be able offer to unsolder all the PPC components and convert it into a MKIII.
A repair on a PPC card is very much hit and miss. If the problem is caused by something like a broken 68k socket or the PPC has fried then it can usually be repaired, however if the board logic itself has failed then it's very unlikely it can be fixed.

why answer to an ancient thread?
-
Stan just repaired 3 of my CSPPCs that needed a new flash ROM, replacement of faulty 53C770 SCSI chips and broken solder joints, or it information on repairs unwanted in this forum?
-
i have pointed to stachu myself when people asked, just wondered why resurrect a thread when none actually asks, it ll not be of much use as soon as it will drop from the front page..

If a couple more people see it while it's on the frontpage (unread messages) and it helps them out it's all good right? :)
