Title: smoking : light vs normal ?
Post by: countzero on August 03, 2006, 07:21:34 AM
I heard somewhere that light cigarettes are actually more harmful than normal ones, because more weird substances are used to get the 'light' taste. is this true ? I'ld like to enjoy this vice which slowly kills me but if possible I'ld like to suffer less in the process. So which one is the way to go ? light or normal ? or maybe smoke pure tobacco without any substance added ?

Bah tobacco. Makes the worst kisses ever even worse.

Indeed I've also heard claims that 'light' and 'menthol' ciggies are unhealthier than regular cigs.

Isn't this like asking, which is better... Being run over by a train or being run over by an articulated lorry?

The main difference I see is from advertisments. The people who smoke the light are "Alive with Pleasure" and the ones who smoke regular are in "Flavour Country". ;-)

Seriously though, I think you're right about "light" cigarettes being more harmful. I've also heard that cigarettes are more harmful than cigars because of carcinogens in the cigarette paper and chemicals used in processing.

It would be even less harmful if you didn't smoke at all.
