Hi-tech ink perfects egg boiling (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/5226338.stm)
when this thing comes out I need all you fellas to run out and start boiling!
I need to know if it actually works and if England finally Gets a Good Boiled Egg.
be part of the Great Experiment!
-
I generally soft boil eggs to a standard I'm happy with. Not sure the erstwhile Delia Smith would be, but there you go
-
Of course, this thread would be incomplete without the obligatory egg joke:
Bloke at bar to woman he's trying to pull: "So, how do you prefer your eggs in the morning, love?"
"Unfertilized"

Here in Canada, we don't boil eggs. We fry them - but only in the middle of summer. We don't fry eggs in winter because the sidewalk takes too long to heat up. :-D
-
From what I hear of Canadian winters, the eggs would only look fried but would turn out to be iron hard frozen splats you'd need to chisel off the sidewalk...

I think in some places in the far north, the egg would be frozen before it hit the ground. It'd get so hard, it could be classified as a dangerous weapon. I'm sure some people freeze eggs and use them to hold up banks.

Or indeed any building where conventional construction materials are either not up to the job or in short supply...
-
A hard boiled (or frozen for that matter) egg inside a sock would make a good weapon...

Am I the only one here that actually likes EATING eggs?????
My grandfather used to make brunch for the family on Sunday while we all were at church.
We came home to softboiled eggs, a half grapefruit in which he carefully cut all the slices right next to the skin so we ate the entire fruit with no waste. and cut up slices of toast which I happily dipped in my egg. ahhhhhh, heaven!!!!
My grandfather could make any meal the most wonderful experience of ones life. What a talent he had.

Your grandfather made "brunch"? Wow, he must have been ahead of his time. I never even heard the word "brunch" until I was 11. Even Marge Simpson had to have it explained to her (with a French accent): "You'll love eet. Eet's not quite breakfast, eet's not quite lunch, but you get a slice of cantelope at the end. You don't get completely what you want... but you get a good meal!"
And why the hell wasn't your grandfather at church?
Am I the only one here that actually likes EATING eggs?????
Well, we don't ALL have grandfathers, you know.

indeed he was. in more ways than one!
And why the hell wasn't your grandfather at church?
because there's this unspoken "rule" that once a man has spent time in the trenches he doesn't have to go to church. He's basically paid his dues. anyway, he didn't have to atone for anything. He was a good person, a nurturing person which is why he went into the "food business". It's what he loved to do.

Well it's not unspoken any more - you just told me and ruined it for him.
I spent some time in the trenches myself: garden trenches... nasty business... got cut up pretty bad.
But back to eggs. It's so hot out you can hear them frying now - on sidewalks, car dashboards, bald people's heads. Some people have run back into their houses to get bacon to go with it.
-
Two soft boiled eggs, mashed up in a mug, with a knob of butter, served with hot, buttered toast and a cuppa.
Delicious.

mashed up in a mug

bachelors. If he's single, he'd be lucky to have eggs.
At my friend's house, I've been served coffee in a crock pot insert- it was the only thing clean.
:-P

Is it true the English can't boil an egg?
Awww, what you should have said is:
Is it true that the English wear bowler hats, pinstripe suits, carry an umbrella ('brolly), drink tea religiously mid-afternoon, are insular but multi-cultural at the same time, can be at turns friendly and very cold, arrogant, ignorant, yet tolerant,
brave, but stupid, intelligent, yet naive?
;-)

That would spoil it. For a start bowls don't have a handle.

Ah, T_Bone, you know me so well; my fridge is currently devoid of eggs.

Cut and paste? :-)

Given I just got back from working late and I'm too tired to cook anything, I shall test the thread assertation by boiling 2 or 3 eggs concurrently whilst attempting the simultaneous toasting of bread...
-
Assertation failed: I just had three near perfect soft boiled eggs with toast :-D
-
Hum,
Just one word: Salmonella (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salmonella).
-
Bah, I see Eggwina Currie's farce legacy lives on

ok, so, after recording your results with These eggs, when the Lion Quality eggs with the heat sensative ink comes out, get and boil those and let me know how different the experience is.
I desperately need to know! :-D
