Title: A4000 simm question, MPEGA question
Post by: tormedhammaren on May 09, 2003, 12:29:31 PM
Hi

I've got an Cyberstorm MKI 040/40 and I want to
add some more memory - since 32 mb isn't enough. The simm i have installed is an 32 mb EDO. Do anyone know if my board is ok with an 72 pins 60 ns, 5V EDO. Can there be any problems mixing types/brands?

Wath is the latest version of MPEGA. I've only found version 3.3 (on aminet), but many places it is said that there is a version 3.5. Does it exist? Where can I get it?

Thanks

Regards
Tor

Unfortunately is may very well be picky on brands. Safest to pair complety equal SIMMs. Beyond that, nothing can be garuenteed.

Do you know if this is true for the Warp Engine as well?  See I have these two empty simm slots....

Don't know much about the Warp Engine, except that (like most accelerators) you need faster SIMMs for the faster versions of the card. The 40Mhz for example requires 60 ns.

When mixing EDO SIMMs, the general rule is the system memory will run at the speed of the slowest SIMM. Brands typically don't matter, except in terms of quality.

Hi

This zip file is not a zip file but a html-document. Some kind off 404 I guess. But thanks anyway. I've actually found MPEGA 3.5, but it's  a bit slower than 3.3 so I'm not going to use it.
Concerning my SIMM-question. I've managed to get hold of a pile of different SIMMs. Does anyone know how I can see if a SIMM is 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 mb? There are no sayings on them.

Thanks

Search the web on the individual chip numbers... It'll tell you what size the chips are... Simple addition after that.

I can find the chips but not much info about them. Do anyone know of a good web-resource?
