Hi, I'm trying to use MKick 1.9 to softkick my 1.3 A500 to 3.1 500/600/2000 using the ROM included with Amiga Forever and it keeps Guruing on me (does the same thing on UAE). I think part of the problem may be the fact that I don't have the required version of ARP.LIBRARY installed, but I can't find version 3.9. Can someone help me?
-
Isn't that ROM encrypted? Maybe thats the problem..
-
Maybe it is? I'll try dumping a copy of the 1.3 ROM in my Amiga and see if it still crashes when I try to use that.
-
i doubt that you can use that ROM image.
About arp.library do you mean v 39.1?
-
The 3.1 ROM of AmigaForever is for an A4000. It needs a 68020 and AGA hardware.
Bye,
Thomas

@Thomas
The AF 3.1 image won't work on a real amiga. It was part of the deal between Cloanto and Amiga to stop piracy.

Are you talking about this AmigaForever version or about 3.1 ROM generally? I`m not sure about AGA but 3.1 does not require an 68020.

Yes...
Maybe the ROM image I'm trying isn't from my Amiga Forever set...I have them all stuffed in one directory, including a bunch I downloaded before purchasing Amiga Forever. It specifically says 500 600 2000 at the end of the filename. I'll get the exact name when I get home.

Depends what version you're talking about.
40.63 for the A500/600/2000 will run on a vanilla 68000
The 40.68 versions for the A1200 and A4000 have some '020 optimisations inside utility.library and mathieeesingbas.library.

This is the ROM image I'm trying to use. It crashes in WinUAE too using the ZIP disk I'm booting the Amiga with.
Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.63 (1993)(Commodore)(A500-A600-A2000)[!].rom

Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.63 (1993)(Commodore)(A500-A600-A2000)[!].rom
That file is not from Amiga Forever, but rather from a large collection of pirated kickstart ROM images.

I have it (almost) working. It was the missing ARP 1.3 library that was causing the problem. I now have it softkicking into 40.63
