My 14" Datic multi-multisync monitor isn't doing very well these days and I need advice on what to replace it with. Do I have to buy a second hand monitor or are there any monitors out there today that support all native Amiga screenmodes? If, so where can I get one? I play a lot of games so PAL is a must.
Thanks in advance! :-)

The easiest thing to do would be to pick up a scandoubler to that you can use any monitor that you come across. ~$130 isn't the cheapest thing in the world though.

Thanks for the tip! Will a scandoubler work just as well as if I has a multi-sync monitor or are there any backdraws?

just price

C'mon! If you look on Craigslist, there are a lot of people giving away VGA monitors. So, even if you spend the $$ on a scandoubler, you figure you'll spend practically nothing, almost for a PC monitor. So, it evens out.

Yes kim there are drawbacks.
1) not all vga's like the signal being outputted. It is not 100% within VGA specification.
2) not all scandoublers are 24 bits. So if you have AGA it will not look as good as it was
3) VGA monitors are too damn sharp. Games will look but ugly imho.
However the 3rd drawback is also the reason I keep the scandoubler/Flickerfixer I have. I can use a nice 640x512 desktop and am still able to read all the text nicely.
Try the search function. There have been very informative threads on scandoublers in the past.

How about TFT-TV some of them works very well with amiga

How about thislink (http://www.amigastuff.co.uk/partnumber.asp?Code=scandub1&Page=type1)
I really need some advice in this area, what is the best soulution for amiga 1200? Is it easier to simply tower and add a vga card?

I have used a very similar (the same) scandoubler fro Eyetech since about 98 or something, still works great!
Much better to play games on scandoubler + big crt than the old amiga screens (gives me headache)...
Nice price too!!

For those in the US, I saw this on EBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150017024392&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BID_IT
The specs are:
(H)= 15.6 - 36k f (V) =45 - 90 HzHz
That means it will work on Classic Amigas (15.75). It is a multisync as well and can do DoubleNTSC (A1200/A4000) as well as VGA (A3000). I had one of these in the late eighties. I ordered one, but the seller also has another.
No one else was bidding, so I got it for about $60 (incl shipping).

Actually, I haven't yet seen one single scandoubler for the A1200 which is 24-bit (which is the main reason for me selling both my scandoublers off, they simply don't do AGA justice... at all). Do you know of any?
