Title: KVM or just Monitor Switch for Amiga
Post by: irishmike on July 22, 2006, 05:20:02 PM
Hello:

Anybody know of a good KVM or at least just video switch for the Amiga?  Or is there a way to take the 23 pin video connector to a standard VGA switch, prefer less adapters though.

Thanks for any input.

Mike

The usual Amiga VGA adapter would help get the signal to a standard KVM switch, but I don't know if the switch would pass the signal through properly (I'm assuming you're using 15KHz signals).

That is kind of the jist of my question.  I am not sure I want to use a standard KVM... but was wondering if someone knew of an Amiga specific one?

No adapters is ideal :-)

Thanks,

Mike

I had a KVM hooked up to my 4000T and a PC for a brief time. It didn't work very well - would usually fail to pick up Amiga video signals, even from a graphics card.

I'm now using a standard VGA manual switchbox. Working very nicely.

I'm using a Cybex/Avocent 4-port KVM-switch with my A3000 and CV64, works perfectly! I also have a Lyra keyboard interface so I can use a PS/2 keyboard for all my computers including the A3000, still using an old Amiga mouse though but that might be next if I find any good hardware.

Hi:
i'm using a Belkin Omni Cube 4-Port with my Amiga 3000D and a Cyb64 3d. No problems so far. I'm only using it as a Video Switch. Does this Lyra adapter work good?

BEst Regards

Rod

I have the KVM SW 0206 C here, works very nice although I had to add a extra but small powersupply for the device. Maybe one can add it via wire to the normal atx supply to avoid that.

Mechanical switching is not recommendable! You can damage your hardware and the screen quality is not good especially at higher frequencies.

I am using a Belkin F1DA108T 8 way switch with a converter for the mouse and keyboard to use my PC stuff.

Works nicely.

Using a Belkin F1D208-OSD here with Lyra and Myzner adapters for mouse and keyboard. Everything works fine with 3000 and 4000. Looks like any decent KVM will do you just fine although adapters are necessary for the keyboard and mouse.
