I just got my brand new Kingston Pcmcia adapter from Amigakit.
Im using a lexar 64meg cf card, i never used it so its technically new
On the PC i formatted it FAT like some people said to.
I try to boot my amiga 600 with the pcmcia adapter in and it does not boot.
I remove it and then boot which it comes up fine. They I insert the adapter it locks the amiga up.
I used Amigakits install disk which installed to HD
Please help , this setup cost me a few dollars and looks to be worthless since it locks my amiga up.

The problems you have relates to the CF card.
Lexar is a great card to use as a harddrive together with a CF-Ide adapter, but it doesnt work together with a PCMCIA adapter...
I recommend Kingston card for your setup, try to find for example a used 128Mb on ebay, they are relatively cheap.

never had an a600 so can't be sure, but maybe it has to do with the boot device priority. normaly floppy has 5, cc0: has 3 and all the other devices must have less than 3. at least in the a1200. from an other point of view it is strange enough for the amiga dos to confuse the boot priorities if the cf card is formated in fat and of course not amiga dos like bootable in any way... (i hope that your are not confused more with this...)
-edit-
i have an 1gb kingstone and works fine in any case

What about compactflash brand?
I might have a kodak laying around somewhere

Hey Mr. Bill,
I just ordered that same kit, it works fine for me. Did you install workbench on it if you want to boot off it? Mark the partition as bootable? I am using a PNY 512MB card with no problems in my A1200.

If you have any other software installed and automatically started at bootup that uses the PCMCIA slot (CD drive DOSDriver, TCP/IP stack) you'll probably hit some trouble.
Also get CardPatch and CardReset off Aminet and run them from User-Startup

@mrbill317
Email sent to you.

In my format command I see CF0: showing the 4meg available.
How do I mount it so it shows on my desktop?
-
Some CF cards are slow to show up- we bundle tested CF cards with the adapter.
Run EasyADF and a few seconds later the CF card should show up.
Are you sure you formatted the card as FAT and not FAT32
-
Yes I formatted as fat on my pc.
-
First: boot the floppy disk that came with the package.
Some old CF cards need a bit of coaxing as they are slow to respond so when Workbench appears, run EasyADF from the floppy disk.
EasyADF may quickly complain that it cant see CF0: but then the error message will quickly disappear. Select Show All Files in EasyADF and the CF card should be available for use.

Its now working ,it took 2 mins or so to show up
-
Anyone know why EasyADF isnt working?
I get this error message
TransADF cannot be found at:
SYS:C/TRANSADF

Its fixed now , thanks amigakit
