Hi people,
I am attempting to set up a new site Amiga Guru (http://www.amigaguru.com).
Go to site, click on about.
The reason for starting it is that there always seem to be people asking dev questions on various forums.
Apologies for looking so basic, only started it last night and there are only two pages on it currently :-D .
What do you think?
I could do with some help with graphics/design or submission of articles etc.
Sorry if this shouldn't be in the software category but it was the most relevant one I think.
-
Hmm... Yeah, It needs some more design :-)
I'll help you out with the graphics if your're interested... Send me a PMAIL with details and I'll give you an example of what I can do?
Cool idea though...
-
Thanks, I will do when I'm at home!
Glad I got *some* feedback!
It was more the concept of the site I was interested in finding out peoples opinions of.
-
Ehm... Am I wrong if I say you can find all the questions you want answered and things you may need help with on eg. amiga.org? I'm not a code devil but I do know a couple of developer forums on the web for amiga... But you mean a forum only for amiga-coding-related stuff right?
What about http://www.amigadev.net
Am I completly off track?
-
Hi Tafka,
I just wanted to say thanks for even trying and do not apologize for it being basic. Good luck with your site and thanks for letting everyone know about it. :-D
-
Sounds like a good idea, I do not think there is anything else like this at the moment.
Good luck!

Hi there,
It's not the same sort of thing as amigadev.net, well I don't think so anyway.
The way I see it working is this...
Say you want to find out how to populate an Intuition list view (okay I know this is a bit basic but hopefully you get the idea), you could select something like database->C(++)->GUI->Intuition (and maybe list views or maybe search the database) and find a snippet of code that showed you how to populate the list.
Or for example, there could be a page which showed how to write device drivers.
It's just like a database of coding articles or even just links to stuff on aminet with pros/cons of different approaches.
Basically the premise is: any information that will help people develop applications/software on the Amiga.
My ultimate aim is that people will submit things they have learned whilst developing something that will help others (with examples of code if possible).
I don't know, does this make sense, or am I just completely wasting my time?

Sounds like a great idea. Keep working on it Tafka.

hmm, I like the idea. I'm thinking your gunna have to get a proper database set up if your gunna make a serious go of the site. If you don't fancy scripting it up yourself in php why not use xoops.
-
I think I'll probably use php as there are a lot of friends I know who will be able to provide help to a website database beginner like me!!
Also, my ISP will give me a lot of support for it.
Any more ideas gratefully received though. :-D

@Tafka
I think it's a great idea and it's not like amigadev.net at all.
Good luck with it!
