Title: MOS gaming & Hyperion's ports. Other games?
Post by: redrumloa on May 06, 2003, 06:06:13 PM
Since my system is up and rocking I want to start playing all those PPC games I never had the hardware to play :-D I'd like to purchase some of Hyperion's back catalog. Which games are known working under MOS? Actually I guess the appropriate question would be are there any that DONT work?

If Rogue or Ben are reading this, any chance of a package deal of all your games? There are alot of us who have PPC hardware for the first time, and I doubt I'm the only one who would like to buy your software.

Also, beides SDL and MAME, what other freely available games are out there I am not thinking of? I've got some power under the hood I want to rev:-)

Freespace does work. The only issue with it is the videos. They play choppy and don't have audio (maybe tied together.) It appears that their playback library is tied to audio.device. (Boo!)

You can try scummvm.. It's a player for all those great Lucas Arts adventure games. I just finished playing Monkey Island 2 using it.

By the way: SDL is not a game. It's an API. :-P

Didn't Freespace require Warp3D hardware drivers?   You are talking about this game right?:

How about's Hyperion's Quake 2?

I've got a local source for those two and they've recently marked down their prices. ;)

Hello!
I test on Pegasos/Morphos:
-Descent Freespace: works fine in software rendering, with ahi sound... problems are:  videos, and little things in the mission briefings, but "walkaroundable"...
    -Feeble files: O.K.!
    -Tales of Talemar: o.k.
-Software Tycoon: o.k. (in 68000 mode!)
I know that Quake works, hopping for WipeOut under Morphos!!!

Ciao!

Who sells Quake II at a reasonable price? Last time I checked Software Hut had it for ~$65. I don't mind buying from out of the USA if the price is better.

btw. what is the status of 3D acceleration on Peg1 with MOS?

Does any existing Amiga 3D game run in 3D HW accelerated mode?

(perhaps I've asked this already before, but I do not remeber it ...)

@ksk

AFAIK 3D acceleration is only available to betatesters ATM.

Hmm... My Local retailer has Freespace for 39.99$ CDN (about 27$US) and Quake 2 for 65$CDN (about 45$US).

LiveWire Systems Amiga Software Page (http://www.livewiresystems.ca/products/dsp_products.cfm?id=4)

I think I'll order FreeSpace before its gone. :P

You might want to check out the other items in their catalogue:

My Heretic II works like a dream - anims included. On my Radeon it works ATM only in software render mode though, but it's pretty fast nevertheless.

Wonder how stunning speed it will have when there will be Warp3D wrapper support for the Radeons.

Dunno, I bought it back for my Blizzard PPC 603e/200MHz 040/25 no BVision.

The first major speedup happened when I bought a Blizzard PPC 603e/210 060/50 with BVision.

The second drastic increase occured recently, after getting my Peg. :-)
