Title: EIDE'99 Disk Problem
Post by: bigcrabby on July 02, 2006, 10:30:40 PM
I have an amiga 1200 tower, using the 4xide interface, and the install disk tells me unable to open your tool C:Installer?  Anyone have any suggestions? Thank You James Hayes

Welcome to Amiga.org!

The installation utility is look for the installer program in the C drawer of your Workbench (but cant find it)

Essentially show all files on your hard disk's Workbench/System partition and locate the 'C' drawer.  You then need to drag and drop the 'Installer' program into that drawer.

The Installer program can be found on your Install 3.1 floppy disk or on the Aminet here:

Thanks for your reply. Here is the current problem: The installer program is not on my 3.1 floppy and I do not have the ability right now to connect to the internet with my Amiga. So if I copy the file to a cd that will not work for me as the cd drive is inoperable without the installer program...so do you have any other suggestions? Thanks so much for the help.

allright then... download it on a pc , and copy the download on a 720KB formated pc floppy disk... no go to your amiga, open a shell and type: mount pc0:
and insert the pc-floppy on the amiga... you should see now the contets of the floppy. then get that installer on C:
Hope I helped a little...

You have to use the lha program which should be located in the 'C' drawer then use the command in the Amiga Shell:

c:lha x archivename.lha

There are some PC unarchive programs that can extract .lha archives too.

Ok, it appears lha is not on the C drive it is saying unknown command..this may the reason why this is not working. Is there a way to get this?
