Title: Monitor Options
Post by: pwn3d on June 30, 2006, 11:43:26 PM
Hullo.  The ancient Electrohome multisync monitor I used with my A1200 seems to be on the fritz (it can display hi-res RGB 31Khz screens just fine, but NTSC 15Khz screens are shunted off two inches or so to the right of the edge of the screen).

I was wondering if anybody here may know if there are any multisync monitors currently in production, or barring that, know of any other multisyncs that were produced during the Amiga era other than the 1942 and 1960 (both _were_ multisyncs, right?) that I can keep an eye out for.

Thanks again,
Chris

The only one that I know of which is still in production is the Microvitec 1402 (equivalent to the old 1438), but that is very expensive for some reason.

Old, but the NEC Multisync 3D still show up every now and then. They display from 15.xx Khz to about 38Khz.
I still use one with my A2000.
Apparently parts are still available, 'cause several local shops will fix them. Good hunting.

You could try a C=1950 monitor; it was packaged with a lot of A3000s back in the day.  There's also the CD Solutions 1400 monitor that was advertised back in 1995 or so.

I have an Hitachi CML155XW 15 Inch LCD (2002). Does 15k and 31K In Pal. (Won't do 21) Works fine whether I choose PAL or NTSC from the boot menu. (Plugged into the A1200 thru the silver commodore VGA adaptor)
If you can find one on ebay or the wide world.  They were used by corporates quite often.  I got mine in an ex-lease auction.

PS: Don't believe the specs at the Hitachi Web Site. It works.

Thanks for the monitor suggestions, everyone.  Now I've got a better idea of what to scout around for on the used market.

FYI, I also found a page geared at Atari ST users that lists a bunch of multisync displays as well.  It's a commerical site, but they give a lot of info on display frequencies:

Yeah, I saw those, too.  However, the Amiga Hardware Database description makes these sound less than perfect, in terms of picture quality, and frankly, I'm still saving the cash for a new accelerator.  It's going to be a while before I'll be able to get a flicker fixer, unfortunately.
