Title: Amiga 1200 3.0 ROM (Original) for sale
Post by: irishmike on June 28, 2006, 12:50:04 AM
Hello All:

Since I upgraded my A1200 to 3.1 ROMS, my old original 3.0 ROMs are now available.

Asking $20 plus shipping... payment via PayPal.

Let me know if interested via PMAIL.

Thanks,

There is exactly zero point in trying to sell your 3.0 ROMs - who would want them, especially since I bought my 3.1 ROMs, plus 3.1 Workbench for less than you want for those.

I suggest you incorporate them into a piece of modern art; or if they are suitable for it, ask Motorollin to blank them and put the 3.9 stuff on them.

Yeah sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but anyone that tries to sell 3.0 ROMs usually won't get to.  I tried a few times a few years ago and even started the bids at $1, no go!  The reason is obvious, the A1200 came with them, and if someones did go bad, thats the best time to upgrade to 3.1 since you have to open up your miggy anyway...

Sorry, won't work. The Amiga's kickstart chips are ROMs, which means they are not programmable. You need EPROMs if you want to put 3.9 on them.

Hello All:

No big deal if they don't sell.  BTW: Asking $20 means just that, if someone needs them and the offer is worthwhile -- I probably will let them go.

This was just an offering to the community... they may indeed stay around in my spare parts bin for the remainder of the entirety of the world, but if someone needs them -- PMAIL an offer :-)

Aren't EPROMs the really oldschool ones with the window to erase them with UV? If so wouldn't EEPROMs be better since they can only be wiped with the proper equipment?

Anyway if someone were to pay you for materials and time etc. would you be willing/able to make some more 3.9 ROMs?

He can't, at least not without proper license from Amiga, Inc, Haage & Partner etc.

That's right.

Yes, but I can't find an EEPROM which is compatible with the Amiga's ROM socket. I was thinking of trying to find an EEPROM which is not pin compatible with the 27C400 EPROM, and build an adapter board so it can be used in the Amiga.

Sure, but I would need an original 3.1 ROM and 3.9 disc sent to me first to confirm that you have them, and I would make the 3.1 chip unusable so it cannot be used in another Amiga.
