Hi all!
Anyone interested in a high-end turbo card for your A1200?
I do upgrades and repairs for Apollo/BPPC cards.
Pictures can be viewed at:Apollo upgrade (http://per-gunnar.johansson.bwm.se/)
-
Where you located and what kinda upgrades can you do? (Does this mean you don't do upgrades for DKB or Warp040 cards?) :)
-
My Apollo 1260 needs MORE RAM.
32 MB is not enough.
How much ram can you hack onto it?
-
Hi!
Im located in Sweden and for the moment specialized in Apollo / BPPC cards for the A1200.
Sorry, i dont own a A4000 so i cant give you any support for these cards...
Thanks for asking.. :-)
-
I used to have an Apollo 040@40mhz card.. that was such a sweet card.. I need to find another one.
You don't happen to sell Apollo cards do you?
-
Hi!
If you add an extra SIMM socket you will have 64MB, thats the most you can get.
This limit is by the design and sorry i cant hack the memory interface (Mach210).
However, if anyone has problem with the memory interface i will soon have the Mach210 as spare part, of course with the original code.. :-)
-
Is it possible to use a 64 meg 72pin SIMM in one of these accelerators?
-
Nope.
32MB is maximum for each SIMM slot.
You need to add an extra slot if you want to have 64Mb.
-
Yes, i do.
You could contact me by mail or PM if youre interested.
I sell any configuration of these cards, 040 or 060.
-
I think that we should ask that from bloelle@priv.gold.pl

Who is that..???
-
maker of remapollo, I think that should be possible to use more ram than 32 / 64 would it be possible to make some kind of patcht ?
-
Aha, ok.. :-)
But no, its not possible to use more ram using a patch.
Its a hardware limit.
-
You would need to get in touch with the creator (Dean Brown?) of Apollo series and see if he still has the source code for the MACH chip, if not perhaps someone can develop their own?
I guess PG has the original MACH chip binary so that he can make more?
It really depends how many address lines go to the MACH chip.

Hi alexh!
(Btw, thanks for your many interesting posts regarding technical issues on amiga.org and other sites.. :-)
No, i dont have the binary, i think it would cost a small fortune to buy them from the developer.. :-)
The PLD:s are protected and impossible to read with a eprom programmer, if anyone are tempted to try.
However, im in touch with a person who knows the developer so im buying the PLD:s already programmed.
So it is 100% original and legal chips im selling.. :-)
I also have the firmware(s) for the eprom.
The firmware is different for the Apollo 1240, 1260 and 1260LC.
-
It might be worth asking the developer if they were capable of doing a new version with increased RAM capability?
I doubt that they are.
The PLD's you are buying are probably NOS (New old stock) and were actually programmed many years ago (but I may be wrong.)
-
I want 256 MB on my Apollo 1260!
Or at least 128 MB :-D
-
How much would you be prepared to pay?
Would you consider POSTING your valuable A1260 away to be upgraded? (This may be required if enough Address lines do not go between the SIMM socket, MACH chip and CPU)
-
Can you do the Apollo 040 > 060 upgrade?
If so how much would it cost?
Thanks
-
Would you be willing to Upgrade an Apollo 4040 to a 4060?

The people involved are VERY busy (it has taken me four months to get this far..) so im sure there are no chanse for a new memory interface.
It would have been nice, though..
Im not sure if the PLD is the only bottleneck (im a service technician, not a developer), it could be other hardware limits?

Hi,
yes, i could.
Please PM or mail me for details.
Would you be willing to Upgrade an Apollo 4040 to a 4060?
Sorry, but i have only the parts needed and the knowledge to upgrade A1200 cards.
