Title: A1200 Backdrops
Post by: Kvist on June 17, 2006, 01:07:52 PM
I was wondering if there is a program for the A1200 that let me use regular Jpg picture files as backdrops in Workbench?
Or if you guys recommend a good picture converter that can convert between Jpg and IFF?

Cheers, S

Well, WBPattern :-) Just install a jpg datatype which you can find on Aminet.

It is probably better idea convert JPGs to ILBM because decoding JPG is slow on unexpanded Amiga.

Correct, that would be the best thing to do, but having the jpg datatype installed can become useful in the future.

for converting JPG->IFF you can use Personal Paint on the Amiga or SEA on MS-DOS

To adapt the JPG picture to the palette used by WB (when not using RTG) you can load it in multiview, which does an admirable job of dithering, and then do a screen capture and save as IFF.
