Title: BZ 1260 memory problems
Post by: CLS2086 on June 10, 2006, 10:53:32 PM
Hi,
I tried to revive a non working Blizzard 1260.

Now, it boots and it found "working" in the early when ther e is no ram on it nor on the SCSI kit.. (The SCSI kit works well on my 1230-IV).

The Scsi kit is well detected and work as SCSI adapter "scsi1230.device".

With WB3.1 it always hang during the boot or just when I arrive at the WB..
With WB1.3 no problem, but if I have done a setpatch (v43) just before I can't boot and give me a GURU.

I tried to boot WB1.3 with no patch and run WhichAmiga, but it can't find the speed of the 68060 and told me there is not enough memory... I also try AIBB but it freezes.

Any clues ? Any Idea ? CPU half dead ? Broken lines ? Bad soldering (i reworked a lot) ?

 :-?

Have you tried a different stick of RAM, and are the 68060 libraries installed correctly?

Hi,
yes for sure, I tried different memories that work both on my BPPC060 and BZ1230...

And no I didn't copy the 060lib because I don't have received the disk with it. But should it lock this way ?

latest 68060 libs (http://phase5.a1k.org/files/040_060Libs.lha)

Regardless of libraries installed, fast ram should be found when booting without startup-sequenc and entering Avail.

In case nothing is listed under fast ram, the memory stick is damaged, or the ram controller chip(s) on the Blizzard 1260 are damaged.

For getting Which Amiga and such to find the correct CPU, I think the libraries are needed, at least they are needed to get a stable Workbench. If you have the install disk for your BPPC 060, you have the libraries needed for the B1260 aswell.

Hum, I said that I can't boot at all the system when a SIMM is present whatever if it's on the 1260 or on the SCSI kit or both.
SIMMs and SCSI kit were tested OK on my BZ1230-IV.
I can use the SCSI feature on the 1260.
What is strange is that the system boot and ask for WB within 5s whatever if the scsi kit is present or not.

I will try to put the libs, but will they work on Wb 1.3 ?
I didn't have such problems with BPPC (mainly due to the fact that libs are already in the firmware ?).

I also try to change the quartz, nothing changes.

But with memory modules, doesn't it show the purple boot screen? If so, try the avail command; I assume you have a floppy drive installed?

When I boot with or without SIMM, it shows shortly a kind of fullscreen 5 or 6 rainbow's band with cycling colors.

But when there is a SIMM, it does stop at the black screen. No way to reach the early or to boot ...  :-o

May be the Ram controler is dead, or a broken wire or a bad soldering....  :-?
