I now have 5 PC's! (2 donated) One inside an arcade machine running emulators, a HTPC, a Linux box and a couple others. The arcade machine and the HTPC do a reasonable job of emulating Amiga games, now that I no longer own any real hardware (though I probaly have enough parts kicking around to get an A500 going). Five PC's is pushing it for both space and practicality and one or two will probably have to go sometime soon.
BTW, If youre into emulation I strongly recommend trying the FM-Towns and/or X68000, both machines are awesome examples of late 80's, early 90's computer tech'.
I also have:
Dreamcast - A truly great machine!
Gamecube - Hardly used.
Xbox - Lately its gathered dust.
Atari Lynx - Still great...
Gamegear - In my car for when I get bored.
GBAsp - Get a GBA Movie Player!
DS - Bought for one game: Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow!
Most of my older machines (C64, A500, SegaMD ect) have been sold off or given to the Good Sammy's (charity).
What gear have you guys accumulated over the years and what are your impressions of them?

Well, there's too many to list here, really. Here's a text list with photo links:
http://www.blakespot.com/list
And here's a QuckTime VR of the "Byte Celler" in which I keep my current collection:
http://www.bytecellar.com/qtvr.html
My "main" machine right now is a PowerMac G5 (dual 2.5GHz processors) with 4.5GB RAM and a 30" Cinema Display. But I love the old machines.
The next purchase is a Nintendo DS Lite - I got on the last spot for Sunday's (June 11) shipment at a local GameStop store - yay!
Been "collecting" for about 26 years.

We've got, currently, in our house:
2 A600s
3 A1200s
2 NeXTs
1 PowerMac (I think... we gave some Macs away not long ago)
1 Ultra SPARC
1 Athlon 1400
2 IBM PCs
Laptops with everything from 8088 up to Pentium 3
1 Gumstix
A PC104 single board computer of some variety
and various other bits and bobs.
I used to have an Enterprise 128, well, I technically still do, but it's at my parents' house. My Dad has a silly amount of computers as well, though. ZX81's, Sinclair Spectrums, 2 Intellivisions, a Prinztronic, pretty archaic stuff... also several A1200s (including my brother's towerised one) and A500s.

Amigaz
WOW. That is some computer room. Very cool. Especially the space invaders wall paper! Here is what i currently have:
1. Pegasos 2 G4 triple boot - Linux 2.6.15 kernel Debian, Morphos, Mac OSX Panther

-
I don't own other platforms, only my Amiga 1200. I had an Amiga 500 previously.
-
The ones marked with a * i still have.
I think in this order:
C64
A500* currently own 3 of those
NES
A2000
Philips videopac g7000
Osbourne1 (http://oldcomputers.net/osborne.html)
Amstrad x86 8086 <--- running windows 1.2 ;-)
Olivetti x86 8088
IBM X86 8086
x86 intel Pentium 133
C128d
PS1 *
PS2 *
Mac Portable (http://www.lowendmac.com/pb/portable.shtml) *
Classic Mac
Sharp computer something * <--- do not recall the model
A1200*
Sun sparcstation 5*
And a bunch of other x86 boxes..
I sadly was young and got rid of the osbourne and only afterwards found out that it was rare :-( It worked 100% and even had some office software included. I swapped it for something else, and the new owner managed to put it near some magnets, so the floppies where ruined and then it was later scrapped since there was no software.
I also got rid of the NES and PS1, but still the mac portable which is also in perfect working order with the exception of the battery.
Edit: The c128d is also one i really regret parting with.. This one was also fully functional and had a orginal commodore monitor. :-(

Oh boy... lotsa systems here...
Stuff I owned at the time they were hot:
(1983-1990) C64, C64c, 1581, multiple 1541s and clones, Skyles IEEE / SFD floppy drives, buffered serial interface, etc...
(1990-1992) Amiga 500, sidecar HD (Dataflyer+RAM)
(1992-1994) A1200, GVP 030 JAWS Series 1 @ 40mhz.
(1994-Present: retired to retro duty around 1999) A4000, CSMKII 060 @ 50mhz, CV64-3D, Ethernet. -- (Currently the CSMKII isn't functional :-( It's still my very favorite Amiga, though, so eventually I'll either cough up the dough for a CSPPC or ship the CSMKII to Amiga Center France for repairs.)
(1999-2003) AMD T-Bird 900mhz (later upgraded to a OC'd 1100 mhz after a cheap processor swap), GeForce 2
(2003-Present) Pentium 4HT 3.0C (800fsb), added GeForce 6800 GT/OC in 2004 -- (My current main system)
(2003-Present) PocketPC -- HP iPaq 4155 (Can run PocketUAE and PocketCommodore64, which I HIGHLY recommend.)
Noteworthy Cool Stuff I accumulated well after it's heyday:
SGI Octane R10k / SSE (Wicked crazy system - replaced the faulty incandescant front panel with cold blue LEDs)
SGI Indigo 2 R4400 / Extreme (Bright Teal!)
A1200D / GVP Series II 030 (Feeling nostalgic about the one I sold to afford my A4000)
SX64 (Luggable C64 Goodness - currently needs some work)
NOS A500 (Thanks, Red!)
A3000 (Used to run a friend's BBS - currently needs work)
-
my list is short (only computers that were bought brand new and 'in their time'):
1) ZX Spectrum +3 128K
2) Amiga 500
-
Just a couple machines lying around here: Three Dell notebooks (two XP, one Linux), an old PIII running XP, an older PI running Linux, an A4000D, an A3000D, a C128D, a PS-1 sitting in a box, and a PS-2. :)
In the future, maybe a PS-3, but if the prices they are talking about are for real ... yikes! Might be a LONG time before I get it. More so for the reason that all my other games are PS-1 and PS-2, I'd hate to start over from scratch.

I have to answer this question in reverse. It would be a much shorter list of things I havn't owned/own. Except for mainframes, you'll have a hard time naming a commercial personal pc platform that I never owned at least for a little while. And I'm lumping models together when I say that. For example I certainly have never owned ever single laptop model compaq ever made, but I've owned serveral compaq laptops. I'd concider those all the same x86 laptop platform. A few missing from my list that come to mind are a Commodore Pet, Altair, Peg, and I'm still saving up for a next gen Amiga. :-D

@all.
Wow, so what systems were your favourites?
Mine would be the C64, my first computer and main machine from about 1986 till 1990 when I got an A500 (at last!). I used to spend weekends sitting up till 4am messing around with the C64 and making SEUCK games, ah good times!
The A500 comes a clos second, being jawdroppingly awesome when it was new. The best fun I used to have was looking in the paper for people selling Amiga disks and bying 20-30 bucks worth then sitting up all night sampling them, nirvana!
Of the current systems I have the HTPC has been a lot of fun, both building and setting up the software, that and the emulators which let you sample all those systems you couldnt afford in the day.
Of the gaming systems, the Atari Lynx is a favourite of mine, I bought it almost at release, and had to save for months to afford one and a copy of Slimeworld. At the time gaming on a colour handheld was mindblowing.
I was a mad PS1 fan for a while having bought one at release and being blown away by 3D games to start with but later became kinda jaded and disillusioned. Castlevania COTM was a welcome blast from the past being 2D on a machine that could do it without compramise.
I remeber being really unimpressed by the Dreamcast when it came out, but a year or two later I got one for 100 bucks, I found the machine to be one of the saddest tales in gaming, a very underated piece of hardware that disserved better that has some really standout titles.
My GBAsp is everything I ever wanted from handheld gaming, plenty of high quality 2D games with 32bit-generation Gfx. The handheld equivalent of a A1200 except with a far larger library.
My Xbox rekindled my interest in 3D with Halo, but as time has passed I've lost interest in preference for emulation and retro systems.
I tried Shadow of the Beast on an emulated FM-Towns last week and cant believe this machine never found release outside Japan, it really does seem to exceed any other version, grab an emulator and take a look!

I've personally only owned Amigas and DOS/Windows machines, but my first exposure to home computers were when my father got a Spectravideo 328 plus the big box expansion with two disk drives and extra RAM. I had the biggest computers of all my friends... Then my father got a Yamaha MSX with MIDI keyboard. Quite useless FM synth, but cool nonetheless back in the day. He also got a Spectravideo 728 (basically an MSX compatible 328) and later a Spectravideo X'Press 16. The X'Press 16 was a regular IBM compatible PC, but also MSX2 compatible, IIRC. It definitely had the best looking design of all IBM compatibles at the time, but that's about it...
The 328, 728 and the Yamaha are still back at my parents', but my mother is pressing to get all of that "junk" thrown away. I don't want to see all that history going into oblivion, so I'm gonna sell it on eBay with starting bid 1 SEK. I hope someone will find it interesting.

Well my current collection/everyday computers consists of the following:
(Collection)
Amiga 1000 x 2
Amiga 500 x 2
Amiga 2000
Amiga 1200 x 2
Amiga 4000D
TI 99/4A x 2
Atari 130XE
Mattel Aquarius
(Lots of accessories for the above that I need to inventory one day)
(Everyday)
P3.2Ghz desktop x 2
P2.4Ghz desktop x 2
P2.6Ghz desktop (home server for music and such)
P1.7Ghz desktop
ThinkPad 1.7Ghz laptop x 2
Dell Axim X51v
Dell Axim X50v
I think that's it.
I use my A1200 almost every day. My daughter loves to use DeluxePaint IV on it. It's also got the 68060 board in it with 64MB RAM(Thank you AmigaKit.com). I or my kids use the A500 with the GVP HD+ a few times a week for some gaming.
The TI 99/4A was the first computer I ever owned back in 1982. I was then big into Atari until moving to Amiga. I never had any of the Commodore 8-bits but I'd like to add a C64 and C128 to the collection one day.
I also enjoy using the PocketPC's. I've got over 8GB of storage on my X51v and basically carry around everything I need on it. The Wi-Fi on it works great.
Oh and I got lucky last week and bought a Nintendo DS Lite at my local Target when they put them out early. They pulled them back off the shelf later that day. It's a really sweet machine too! Brain Age is something I'm quickly becoming addicted to. :)
Happy computing and computer collecting to all! :)

Does anyone know of a console called 'Database'? I had it in the late 80's. It was cream coloured with some silver panels and yellow buttons. The controllers had loads of buttons on them and plugged into the console with a DIN plug. The cartridges plugged in, well slid in horizontal to the console.
It had basic Atari 2600 type graphics. Games included a submarine games, sapce invaders, tank games etc.

Nope, unless it's listed here (http://www.consoledatabase.com/consoleinfo/index.html) under a different name.

Oldschool!
I had one of those Pong, TV games for a while, got it from a St Vinnies for $1, it was actually pretty fun.
Growing up across the road from a deli caused me to become addicted to arcade machines at an early age. I remember sneaking into the shop on the way to school for a quick round of space invaders.
I still love arcade machines, the games and the machines. I've owned several cabinets, It was unbelievable when I found them in the paper for a few hundread bucks. Me and a mate used to share a flat with a gamesroom full of machines. Blacktiger is still awesome. I even went on to put an A500 inside a Jamma cabinet, the hookup is easy and sraightforward.
Now I have a PC/arcade cab running u-name-it emulators.

Right, my collection isn't as big as some posted here, but I still like it.
I would still want to have a ZX Spectrum of sorts and a CD32 somewhere but anyway, here's the list:
Have owned:
1x C64 - Bought '89, Sold in '93.
Several PC's - Bought '96 and later. Sold/gave away most of em.
1x Gameboy - Bought '99 IIRC. Mario/Zelda goodness.
1x Playstation - Bought 'right after the pricecut'. Spend hours on FF VII.
1x GB Colour - Bought '01 IIRC. Coloury goodness. Tiny R-Type!
1x Gameboy Advance without Backlight - Bought 'when new'. Where's my character? I can't see!
Own, roughly in order of 'currentness':
2x C64 - Never sell Commodores. You'll end up with double the ammount!
2x C128D - One on my desk.
1x A500 - Bought in '91, works but the memory expansion died.
1x A2500 - Bought in '02. Actually, the label says so but it never had the extra cards.
1x A600 - Bought in '04. On my desk, needs a memory expansion because it sigh died.
1x A1200 - Bought in '95. In tower, with Blizzard 1230-IV and some HDD/CDRom.
1x Playstation 2 - Bought in '02. R-Type Final Rocks btw. So does Rez.
1x Gameboy Advance SP - Bought 'when it came out'. FF Tactics was nice, Castlevania rocks.
1x Gamecube - Bought in '03. Resident Evil 4 Rocks. Metroid Prime gives me motion sickness.
1x XBox - Bought in '04. Surprisingly little use for this one. Outrun 2 is nice from time to time tho.
1x Sony PSP - Bought in '05. Impressive device! Daxter & Lemmings rock. GTA ain't half bad.
1x Pentium IV (640) PC. 2GB ram, 160GB HDD, NVidia 7800GTX & Soundblaster XFi. On my desk.
The consoles where mostly an attempt to get 'Commodore Style' twitch games back in my life -which failed miserably, I ended up playing all the RPG's instead :-P-.
These days I just play on the good old Commodore's themselves when I feel the need to be destroyed by Project X -no special edition here-.
-
I have way too many...
VIC-20 with super expander - gathering dust in my brother's attic.
C64 with Simons Basic - keeping the VIC-20 company.
C128 - stolen :-(
PC 486 - intend to gut it and rehouse my A3000 in the case.
2 x Pentium MMX - intend to install DOS/Win95 and Win98 on them.
Athlon desktop - my main machine for work at home.
HP zd7000 P4 laptop - my travelling workhorse.
P4 desktop - mounted under my plasma TV, wireless keyboard/mouse, A1200 keyboard via Keyrah, MAIME, UAE, PC Games installed (Doom3, Pirates, Civ3 & 4).
Centrino Laptop - the wife's.
2 x Athlon desktops - my children's computers.
All I can say is thank god for wireless networks! :D
-
thank god for wireless networks
If it was so good, US soldier in charge of radio-communications must use special "anti-radiation" suite with a special helmet to use wireless phone ...
Some independant experts told not to use more than 3 minutes per day a GSM with such equipement ...
Think about that.
There were a high rate of leucemia here in a nursery school in France, due to a very close GSM emetor...
Lots of people around 40-50 years old have headaches while living too close of GSM emetors or too close of very high voltage power line... Some of them developp also cancer, but there is still no explanation why some have (a few), and why so much haven't...
All I can say, use wire as much as you can.
PS : I work for a big compagny of Phone services (inc. GSM), and there is a GSM emitor on my desk, but its power was lowered, much more that the one in activity on dwelling ...

-
My main computer is a Dell Optiplex GX 150 which I added an ATI Radeon 9250 graphics card, USB 2.0 and a SATA 100 GB hard drive into. Running Ubuntu Linux 6.06 (Dapper Drake).
I am considering a new Toshiba Tecra Laptop which will also run Linux. I have a Macintosh Mini with 10.4.x on it and of course my beloved A1200.
I would go totally Amiga if I can get expansion done because I like the OS and wish that 4 would get released. I probably will keep Linux running because failing all else, it is my OS of choice on normal hardware.

Thanks for the flashback.

Intellivision
Magnavox Odyssey 300
Hey Waterland, my old Odyssey2 is up in my parents attic. Did Magnavox put out another console after the O2 or is that an earlier model?
-
There were several models of the odyssey, many were similar. Odyssey 1 and 2 took cartridges, the 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 2000, 3000, and 4000 series were pong clones. The 100, 200, 300, etc. came later than the Odyssey 1 and 2. The 100 and up were all pretty much the same, each subsequent model got a little more complex, such as adding difficulty levels and more game variations.

I'm still looking to complete my Amiga collection someday. As of just two weeks ago when I finally obtained an A600, I now only need an A3000T to pretty much have at least one of every kind of Amiga manufactured and sold. I am not counting the A1500 and A2500 as separate models. I prefer my G4 Powerbook for virus free Internet and email (even with the recent flak about hacking the wireless connection).
On next Monday I will be taking delivery of a monster Dell desktop with Intel Core Duo and dual video cards, 2GB RAM, etc., etc., etc. (I got a company purchasing discount of 15% off list price the last week of my previous job and decided to take advantage of it since I needed a new desktop PC for doing CAD)
I will be thinning out my Amiga collection to get rid of duplicates (some triplicates) of hardware and software in the near future, so keep your eyes open here and on eBay.

why is it that mac users are so smug about virus free browsing. I have browsed with windows for years and NEVER had a virus and there are viruses for osx? irix has the least I think. I have no numbers to back this up. :-)

I'm not being smug, it is just a choice made due to the odds. I am not aware of any OSX viruses, so I choose to use it instead of Windows for peace of mind. If I had a fast modern Amiga web browser and email client, I would use it instead of the Mac, as I imagine the number of hackers writing Amiga viruses are almost nil at this point in time.

yes there are less...but

can't imagine there are none, false security..
You would hope there are no new virus for the amiga but the lack of a serious browser takes the amiga out of the browser race! (maybe aweb is just one huge virus?)
