Title: Bars & Pipes Pro 2.5b For PC
Post by: stanley on June 04, 2006, 06:23:40 AM
Is there some kind of program and/or any way of running my version of Bars & Pipes Professional (2.05b) on the PC? :-?

Currently - and for the past 15 years -- I am using an Amiga A1200... and a PC* (Win XP / Pro).

* not a store-bought model; was custom-built for better performance, video & sound, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Stanley

Only through emulation (http://www.winuae.net). This is a recommended package (http://www.amigaforever.com).

Also consider getting a newer version from Alfred Faust (http://www.alfred-j-faust.de)

Wow... I had just posted... didn't expect replies so quickly -- thanks, guys!!!

So, my next question is:  Does this mean that I can install Bars & Bipes Pro. 2.5 (and the update to 2.5-B) onto the PC?  That is what I assume an emulator is for (yes... new to this kind of stuff).  I mostly do only music (MIDI compositions), so I am clueless, whenever it comes to the hardware/software aspects of Amiga vs. PC-compatibles.

Again... thanks!

WinUAE will set up a complete Amiga environment on your PC. You can't run Amiga software under Windows, but you can run it on your emulated Amiga.

Take a look at Amiga Forever. It'll get you up and running close to instantly. It's a preconfigured software package that uses WinUAE.

Things to be aware of: you can't read Amiga floppy disks on a PC. So you'll have to turn your disks into disk images and then transfer those files to your PC for use in the emulator. Provisions for all this are included in Amiga Forever.
