I was wondering what programs are still available in order to create animations on Amiga besides MovieSetter?
-
I don't know about new stuff, but I do remember Deluxe Paint. I also remember something about a Disney animation studio thingy.
-
The great TVPaint, ImageFX (Novadesign), ClariSSA (by ProDad)... and of course DeluxePaint (EA), PersonalPaint (Cloanto).
ARexx scripts are often used too to perform or improve anims.
See (the list could be completed of course) :

http://www.novadesign.com/exoops/modules/freecontent/index.php?id=1
http://www.amigaforever.com/classic/ppaint.html
http://www.aminet.net/package.php?package=biz/cloan/PPaint.lha
etc... etc..

There was a program called 'Fanta- something I think (not fantamorph).
It was a vector type morphing program and the anims produced were tiny. Was quite impressive if I remember!
It wasn't one of those naffy photo morphing programs.
If only Xara was on the Amiga..Mmmm

ppaint dosen't have the abilities of dpaint for animation.
mainactor clarissa and adorage is good to search for, and of course lightwave and imagine in 3d sector or even cinema4d.
-
@TazzyUK
The programme you recall is Fantavision.
T'was a pretty good programme, and came with some impressive demo anims.
I was completely incapable of doing anything quite so impressive!!
-
That's Fantavision. Pretty old software, but probably revolutionary for it's age. It also had Apple 2 version with impressive for 8 bit computer animations, on the backside.
-
It was Fantavision that brought me to the Amiga originally. I remember seeing the Dinosaur animation and was blown away.
I had an ST at the time and sold it because it had no software to compete with it.
As it happens - I had it running under UAE not too long ago so it can still be downloaded if yur feeling nostalgic.
Looks crap now though but thats progress for you.

@Amiduffer
I use Brilliance 2.0 ........ Quite Good!
AnimatED (With Sound)
CartoonSTUDIO (with sound)
Deluxe Paint 5
Brilliance 2.0
MainActor and Main Actor Braodcast
Personal Paint (From Cloanto)
ImageFX 4.5 and up
CineMorph (Come with ImageFX)
MorphPLUS (Morphing with AdPro)
DCTV paint
CLOUDS (Free)
Pixel 3D
Cinema 4d
Perfect Paint (requires gfx card?)
ADORAGE 2.0 (to create Special FX and trasitions in SSA format
ClariSSA TO create Super Smooth Animations SSA files
Fantavision (pretty old)
Disney Animation Studio (Also old)
Hannah Barbera Cartoon Workshop
Programs to present the animations:
View
Viewtek
ELan Performer
ImageVision
Deluxe Video
SCALA MM300 (to display animations and piece them together)
and there is quite a few more...............if I had to choose only 2 it would be Brilliance 2.0 version and SCALA MM300 or higher.
Brilliance dethroned Deluxe Paint a few years agio a the best 2D paint package.

There was a program called Anim Workshop, Great little program that came as a freebie on the front of Amiga computing magazine.
Oh look, I still have the disk.

I havent seen anyone mention Lightwave by Newtek?
Lightwave is one of the best 3D animation programs available but is also pricy.
The only drawback is that Newtek stoped upgrading the software for the Amiga for Lightwave at virsion 5.0 They just released virsion 9.0 for the PC/Mac. Virsion 5.0 is still very powerful.

Thanks on behalf of all the folks who poured a few years of their life into that package! Since I also had a hand in Brilliance (see manual credits) I didn't want to say this here since I was so close to the product. Couldn't agree more! Wish I had the artistic abilities Jim Sachs has!

There's a semi-recent commcercial package called Power Movie. Don't know much about it. I think Vesalia still sells it.
-
Wow. Lot of replies!
I'm familiar with DPaint and Brilliance and such. I'm more concerned with how you put the animation, sound, and music, together, like with Disney Animation Studio (which I didn't really care for). I use Imagine4 for my current 3D animation work and it does a fine job.
-
Yea 'Fantavision'..that was it.
I found it amongst several wooden drawers containing hundreds & hundreds of disks that i found in my attic after rescueing my trusty old 3000.
Cant believe some of the stuff I used to mess with
Found floppies for..
Caligari 2, Sculpt 4D, Imagine, Pixel 3D xl (wasnt that a 3d file format converter?), Moviesetter, Photolab, Deluxe Paint IV AGA, Zeotrope (not sure what that is), Art Dept Pro, Spritz?, Design Works, Digipaint III, Digimate 3, Deluxe Print II, GFX Workshop, Cando, Animation Station, Mandlebrot Generators, Alladin 4d, Scala, Cinemorph, Videoscape 3d (remember the biplane?), Vista, Expert 4D Jr, Real3D (Impressive), Photopaint II, Imagemaster, 3D Pro, Sculpt Animate 3D (The one b4 Sculpt 4D I think), Spectra Colour, Morph Plus, Project Imagine, Animation series (Multiplane, Editor, Data, Stand, Matte, Flipper, Effects, Program)
Jeeze, must have been a hoarder
I had alot of stuff inc hardware & software, in those days as my sis was engaged to a fairly skilled computer animator. He was also the/a UK rep for Commodore!! (from chicago, USA!). I know I know..I should have floored him when I had the chance!!..lol
She dumped him after a while (why couldnt she have waited till I had an Amiga 4000 heavily discounted!!)
Ahhh nostalgia nostalgia

Dysney animation studio was fantastic. I remeber the Alice in wonderland animation.
Fantavision is also a superb animation software.

Are you going to offer any for sale?

@beller
indeed.............Brilliance has the best interface for a paint program.have not yet encountered one so good............and the manual is well written.......certainly helped me alot.
I wish all Paint interfaces wee like this.............ImageFX had something like this, but awful icons, the borders looked ugly and most of all prety slow. The interface for Brilliance remains proportional no matter what resolution..........it always looks the same....I hate when things get squashed and ugly.
I was extremely happy when I first loaded it....even though I had no clue how to use it for animations yet. I just loved how it looked.and still love it....................sometimes I load it just to have it on the screen genlocked over a TV signal so I can paint on TV or as a sort of screen saver.............love it love it love it.

Last registered Amiga version of TVPaint with full doc, arexx scripts is available here (v3.59) :

The originals I HAD were Deluxe Paint IV, Sculpt 4D, Imagine (not sure what version!) and maybe a couple of others. The above mentioned originals have 'fell by the wayside' I think as I have moved house about 5 times since I was messing on my A3000. I still may find something as I rummage more but i doubt it. I had ALOT of stuff in those days (software/hardware) and did several 'cleanups' only to regret it since (and now!).
