I have finally decided to take on the epic task of Exile :-) Just got the hang of the controls and been flying round for a bit, pushing "reluctant lemmings" off of cliffs to blow up hatches :-) I've got to a bit where I teleported in to a room where I need a code to get out. A hint appears on the screen saying that the code is "inside/outside your box lid". I've also looked at a walkthrough which says that the code is in the manual. Well, I've got the BTTR version of the game, so no manual :roll: Is there a digital copy of the manual so I can get the codes?

I would have offered to get you the appropriate code from my manual, but it seems my copy didn't come with one! (Re-release version)
Was the BTTR version installed with WHDLoad? The protection code might have been removed. Try typing in anything. Maybe?

Yes it's the WHDLoad installed ECS version (prefer the ECS graphics to the AGA version :-) )
I did try entering any code, but it doesn't work :-(

Darn. Sorry to hear that. What exactly does it ask for?

It's right near the start of the game. You enter a teleporter and there are 4 symbols at the top. Each time you hit one it changes. You have to look up what the symbols start off looking like in the manual, and then change them to the set to which they correspond in the manual.
I did find a scan of the manual, but it was such poor quality that I couldn't read any of the symbols. I'm watching a boxed copy of the game on eBay which will include the manual.

Well, I won the copy of Exile on eBay and it has arrived. It was in perfect condition and still shrink wrapped as promised! There was no manual in the box, just the quick start guide. Wondering if the codes had been removed from the version of the game I had bought, I started the game up from floppy and played through to the same point. Unfortunately it did ask for the code again :-(
Am I missing something?

The last page of the Exile manual (the one included with the AGA version) is filled to the brim with numbercodes.

its called the "Galactic Security System". Maybe that's what you are looking for? Unfortunately I don't have a scanner and they are waaay to many numbers to print in text so have a search on google for that name/reference.

Mine is not the AGA version, but I guess it should have included that manual (it didn't). I'll try searching for Galactic Security System. If that doesn't work I might have to post you my scanner :lol:

The WHDLoad version I was using still had the manual protection included. Also, of course, the original floppy disk had the manual protection. But when I downloaded the latest Exile WHDLoad installer and installed my original copy to disk, it removed all of the protection! So in the room where you have to select the correct combination, you can now just select anything and it will allow you to leave :-D
