Title: Why bid like this?
Post by: TjLaZer on May 19, 2006, 04:07:16 AM
I just don't get it.  Why do people bid like this? (http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=9724115480)  Why not just suck it up and place a real bet like $50, and then if outbid do like $80 or some crap.  This repeatitive nickle and dime crap irritates the {bleep} out of me!  Grrrrr...

By the way that sure went up in price huh?  I actually have one.  :P

I'm mystified as to why this person ended up paying over 100 bucks for a Mac Plus! AND they're going to have to pay 55 dollars to have it shipped!!!

I own 4 of these, all purchased from the Goodwill, all working. The most I ever paid was $35, and that was for the Color Classic I bought (which worked, also and still runs to this day).

@TjLaZer

If you think that's insane, look at the price on this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7616246258) auction!

It is a nice clean machine, which is what collectors like.

I expect Mac users think Amiga users are crazy spending $600 (http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQitemZ8280688486cmdZViewItem) on an old 603e board that they pay $7 (http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQitemZ8804616092cmdZViewItem) for  :-)

What I don't get is why you have created yet another thread about this issue, that is not even an issue. If people want to place a low bid, then let them. If they want to increase their bid with only 1 $ at a time, then let them.

If you want to start out with a 50 $ bet, that is your choice, but if you have a problem with other people not bidding like you, then just ignore it, or don't use ebay at all. And please don't create a third thread about it...

that auction is going up small amounts because of auto bid not becuase he is nickle and diming. if he places a 500dollar bid and 50 people put smaller bids you will see the high bid, his high bid go up by small amounts.

some people also get upset if they get outbid by 50cents. you may get outbid by 50 at the end but their max bid may have been 50 buck more than yours so if you bid anouther 49.99 you would have been outbid by a penny.

ROTFL! Awesome.  However, I understand neither the obsession over the mac plus or especially the TV tuner - it's a tv tuner! $1250 WTF?

Well it looks like one guy had placed a $100 bid and the eventual winner started bidding up, in small increments to over $100 where he finally won!  Thats what irritates me.  It was $10, $12, etc.  A dozen bids were entered.  If you want the item grow some balls and enter a real amount!

I am just trying to make conversation here on an interesting item and I may do it a 3rd and 4th if thats what I want!  If you don't like it ban me off here!

You can't do anything about it at all, you are posting about a Mac item, so not really Amiga related afterall.

Will you start posting about the same "problem" regarding PC hardware, clothes, cars and everything else that is for sale on eBay??

If someone want to raise their bids in small steps, then let them. Crow up and spend your time on something useful.
