Title: Gentoo linux ppc ??
Post by: jimmyboy on May 16, 2006, 01:54:31 AM
I have an amiga 1200 with a blizzard 1240/240 ppc card and a mediator LT4 board with ethernet, voodoo 3 and soundblaster.

Would this OS work on it? Has anyone tried? It looks quite a nice OS or is morph better ??

I know next to nothing about Linux on classics, but I was under the impression that only LinuxAPUS would run on PPC classics.

Then again, my dad got Gentoo running on his AmigaOne, so I suppose anything's possible.

So consider this post a :bump:

I just checked and there is an APUS debian relase using Kernel 2.6.15 this is one of the most recent kernels. Not sire of the actual hardware it supports in an Amiga.

Hi,
MOS would be faster but you have a mediator... (that cost more than a GREX !!)

Mediator has no linux support, except for this:
http://www.elbox.com/download/mediator.zip

Good luck on getting the source code for that... (yes, it's GPL violation if Elbox doesn't provide the source code when requested)

Not sure about Gentoo but I am running Debian Sarge on my A4k with an APUS 2.4.20 Kernel. Runs OK so far even if KDE or Gnome is a bit slow.
