Title: need help with 4xEIDE'99 and OS 3.9
Post by: acottrill on May 15, 2006, 07:01:07 PM
I'm having some troubles with this unit, I'm hoping someone else has had the same troubles and knows the simple fix.

here is my situation...

I have a a1200 and have installed the 4xeide controller in os3.1 with success.  the cdrom drive is on the secondary port and everything works great.  after that I have installed OS 3.9 over 3.1 from the cd and the installation goes without a problem.  when the system reboots with os3.9 for the first time the cdrom is gone.

I can run the 4xeide instllation program under 3.9 and it finds my cdrom drive. but after powering down the system and rebooting still no success.

the lines in my  startup-sequence that refer to the 4xeide driver are exactly the same as my os3.1 insatll.  all the files are in the same place.

my devs:dosdrivers has a cd2 in it

I can go into shell and type "cd cd2:".  It doesn't give me any errors but it also doesn't switch to the drive.  if I type "cd cd0:"  it gives me an error letting me know that the volume is not present.

thanks for any ideas you may have.

Check to see if the CD2 file in devs:Dosdriver points to a certain device, as the device driver must be in devs:.

Just a tip, the CD command is no longer needed. CD2: will do just fine -)
