I went to a pub quiz last night, and when I marked another team's answers I marked 'Holland' as wrong as an answer to the question "In which European country is Utrecht situated?"
I was told that I was being pedantic, but I explained that North and South Holland are only two of NLs provinces and Utrecht was in neither of them. See, I made a stand for you Dutchies against British ignorance! ;-)

 Good job ;).

When people say you're being pedantic, more often than not they're just saying "you're right, but damn if I'll admit it!" I don't know why we have such confusion over Netherlands/Holland, it's incredibly simple. A large number of Americans do the same to us with UK/GB/England using the three terms interchangeably.
Anyway, bravo for standing up against our national ignorance of other countries.

Problem is, 90% of the Dutchies have no clue about it either.
