I am getting a blizzard 1230, and am looking for suitable RAM to install in it... would this 128MB simm be ok? It says it is fastpage (but also EDO - thought it was one or the other)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/128MB-EDO-60ns-Fastpage-32x36-72-PIN-SIMM-Memory-51310_W0QQitemZ6868186442QQcategoryZ4611QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Can anyone advise?
Thanks

From the picture shown, this is another type of memory (notice the two notches which normal SIMMs do not have).
The Blizzard 1230 SIMM socket has limited space due to the non-angled SIMM socket and the nearby CPU so you have to use low profile simms such as this new SIMM (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=109)

@bob808
The picture is obviously wrong one (it's of SDRAM memory stick as seen here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6868187306&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr12_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT)), so the memory could well work.
You could ask the seller for more details (ask if they have a wrong picture for the product, and that if it really is a normal 72pin SIMM).

The description and the photo don't tally up, the pic looks like a 168pin EDO stick with ECC, hence the odd number of chips, yet the item description clearly states that the item is a 72pin stick. I'd press the seller for more accurate info.

This seems to be the item in question, the seller seems to have used the wrong picture. Unless he managed to pick the wrong part number...

Dunno if it'll fit the 64Mb I got is the same size but only has chips on 1 side if this has chips on both sides it probably won't fit. (from what I understand it will fit in a 1260 cos the socket is at different angle)

It will only fit in some DCE manufactured Blizzard 1260s as the Phase 5 Blizzard 1260 had straight SIMM sockets.
It will also fit in the Blizzard SCSI Kit

Hi,
I'm the guy selling the 1230-IV to bob808.
A SIMM of that size won't fit this card. If you look at these pictures I've taken, you'll see you'll need a slimline SIMM so that it doesn't foul the 030 processor - a bit like the 16mb one that I've already got in it:

I've seen people wedge big SIMMs in so that they dont actually clip in but they just sit in the slot, and attach them on with rubber bands, but I couldn't call that a healthy or safe setup. The 030 can get pretty hot when in use, so it needs to be kept clear.
By the way, I've found a new clock battery and it's on its way to me. I'll solder it in as soon as I get it, and make sure it all works and is charged up for you. :-)
Cheers.
