Title: Ide-fix -97 & CF as hard disk
Post by: PG on May 02, 2006, 12:53:00 AM
Has anyone been able to get Ide-fix -97 to work when using a CF as hard disk?

Yes, it should work fine.  What are your symptoms?

No.
I tried this, IDEfix will not start if there's a CF installed as an IDE disk. The machine locks up as soon as IDEfix is run.
I tried changing IDEfix settings but nothing worked. Must be a bug in IDEfix.

It works fine with the Elbox EIDE99 buffered interface (4xeide.driver).

you mean a hardware ide controler with idefix software or just the software? in the second case you don't need the idefix software.

Exactly the same as rare_j...

I am unable to test, as it is now set up at work (EIDE 99 and working perfectly).

I'm sure I had it in my IDEfix 97 to test the card when it failed to work in a plain A1200 with floppy disk power.

(The problem turned out to be switched cables on the floppy power, resulting in a blown card.  The CF adaptor survived though, and as mentioned is currently in use.)

What cabling are you using?  I used a 3.5" - 2.5" which had a power plug on one end (unused) and plugged into the 2.5" connector.

It's possible my memory is failing in my old age and I used the A1200 internal, but I don't think so!
