You will need either workbench 3.1 which has native support for *most* Cd drives or you will have to download a CD filesystem eg AmiCDFS.

try to clear up what do you mean...
if you want to connect a hard disk and a cdrom on an a1200
you need this cable 2.5 to 3.5 ide (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=438&osCsid=209ea15a30d420e768a112ccef844609). as for the board, what board it is?

Really need more info to help you here... like what Amiga you are using? Most laptop CD-ROMs need an adaptor to connect them to an IDE interface. What model of CD-ROM is it?

You either need the cable Amije linked to above, or a 4 way IDE splitter. This will let you connect the CD-ROM and hard drive at the same time.

You might also need something like this (http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=5#p2112) so you can connect the CD-ROM to the IDE cable, but this will depend on the type of interface and connector on the back of the CD-ROM.
