Title: Where to get a flyer Octopuse cable?
Post by: tonyvdb on April 30, 2006, 09:23:30 PM
Hi,

Without breaking the bank (softhut wants $125 thats way to much) where can I get a new or in good condition octopuse cable for the Video Toaster flyer or at least an external SCSI cable for 50pin SCSI drives with one end having a 50pin internal connector to connect to the Flyer card.

Thanks

I'll let you have the Octopus Cable I used to create Millenium for $75.

It shouldent be, its just 3 seperate 50pin internal to external SCSI cables. About 3Ft long each.
They run from the Flyer board out of the Amiga 4000 to a seperat tower holding the Hard drives.

@tony

search eBay for internal and external scsi cables and adapters. It's probably not the same but if it's scsi you need it will work. I managed to get all my internal, external and internal to external adpters for a teener, searching patiently on eBay from time to time.

Newtek sold them at $100 when they originally came out.  They are 3 50pin external scsi connectors, plus the 2 serial port cables for the Flyer all set to come out a single card slot and even have the mounting bracket for it.

Unfortunatly Newtek has no more in stock and the company that made them for Newtek is no longer in buisness.
The cable is going to be tough to make as it needs internal 50 pin conectors on one end and external conectors on the other It needs to be made with round cable so it can be routed outside the case to the Flyer tower case.
