you people will know that Amigas are well known for yellowing!
now, relevant to the A1200 - is it okay to PULL the keys out of their sockets and then soak them in some hot soapy water and then place them back where they belong?
i.e. is the key GLUED to the location or is it fine to pull the key out?
-
You can just pull them off - there is no glue. Then you can soak them or put them in the dishwasher so they are sparkly clean and lemon fresh.

ill be cleaning my kb then. if i FIND my A1200 escom (in a previous house) i will use that computer.

i wonder if you can order in bulk .... ?

Haha...
:-D
Actually the dishwasher works wonders on some keyboards but the A1200's characters are printed on quite loosely. Ionic surfactants and hot dishwasher salt might erase them!
Removing the keys is a bit more difficult on Amigas too since a lot of them have little bars underneath with springs.

I had a 500 keyboard that was yellowing, was able to get the key white but it was labor intensive.

You can whiten a keyboard considerably with those disposable wipes like CiF/Flash and for monitor screens OptiClear disposable non-smear wipes.
If the plastic has yellowed then bleach won't help (it might make it yellower) so the only option is to use a spray like PlastiKote.
I wonder how long this lasts on the actual keys though...
