Hello,
I'm looking to purchase a working Amiga A4000 desktop in the US. Preferably a non-Video Toaster branded A4000 (those seem to pop up on eBay the most...)
Thanks!

Check EBay ...
I think he already did that :-)

There are A4000's all the time on ebay, keep checking. I would highly advise the OP to ask the seller if the battery has been removed/replace and NOT buy it unless that has been done. If the battery has leaked, and it has at this point as it is over 10 years old, it would of damaged the RTC and possibly the SIMM slots. Even if it looks like "very minor" leakage! I bought two A4000s that looked like there was no leakage at all, but had some. RTC was dead. Had to repair traces.
Good luck!

Fragile simm sockets too.
I've also noticed that sometimes the battery doesn't even need to leak, yet acid fumes start to corrode nearby tracks and chip legs even before any real leakage occurs. :-(

I have an A4000T I have been considering putting on ebay. I have been testing it all out and getting all the drivers updated. I used it from 1997-1999, then and it has sat ever since. Quite a time capsule to go back and look at! It has an 060 and a PHASE 5 manufactured PPC 233mhz processer card and also a cybervision 64 3d graphics card. So far everything is running great! 50 megs fast 2 megs chip.. Let me know if you are interested.

i just aquired an A4000 (Desktop), and it "Apparently" has had the battery changed (no prior leakage), how do i tell if it has ?
New battery is MiMH, does that sound right ?

As long as its installed properly and is 3.6 volt it should be just fine.
