Ahhh
Well, it isnt exactly complete yet.as I still need to ad a coat of mtte Finish Clear paint. And also actualyl connect the internal CDROM drive.but at least its finally got the CDROM slot internally and its painted.
Notice I spray painted the keys as well..then purchsed keyboard stickers for people who want to translate their keys to another language....in this case, they are ENGLISH/Korean.....only because thats all I could find.
:-)
I will post other pictures soon...plus My VJ gear using the CD32/SX32 Pro.
For PICTURES, just look at my PhotoAlbum here on A.org by clicking on my name...............make sure yuor signed in.

Wow, that is beautiful! Neat job!
Tell me, can you get a display on the Dell monitor with the A600?
I ask 'cause I'm sitting looking at the same monitor right now and there's an old A600 right at my feet.
:-)
-
hahaha, Thanks.
Yes you can, if you have an RGB to VGA adaptor..........and put the A600 in Productivity/Multiscan mode.............I already tried it with the CD32/SX32 pro and it worked......although it looks like crap in 640x480 as this monitor is 1024 x 768 native.
the picture with the A600 on a wood table is actually a Performance rehearsal of a screen play here in New York that a friend of mine did for her upcoming Film.............I was the SoundFX guy..using the A600 of course :-D I once and for all was inspired to finally paint this for the actuall performance which is on Friday, as News crews and magazines will be there...and I wanted the A600 to look her best :-D
although I will probably use my CD32/SX32 pro for the actual performance. I will use SCALA MM300, SuperGenSX and DV video moving backdrops hooked up to Two 5000 Lumens Projectors...........WooPee!

Thanks for the info.
It's really great to see people still doing great things with their Amigas.
-
Very, very good job, leirbag28! :-)
Is Nextel, the paint of the case?
-
@Framiga
Nextel? .... the phone company? not sure what you mean. I just purchased regular Spray paint.....Ultra Flat Black...and painted it myself... then placed keyboard stickers on the keys..................and now I have to paint the whole thing, with Clear Paint with a matte finish.....I dont want it to have alot of shine just like the CDTV keyboard. It has a nice non reflective coating.but it does not look too dry either.
I will probably finish painting it on Saturday morning.
-
I guess I will post pictures again once its Coated and ready.............Im coating in because I dont want any paint eventually pealing off...nor the keyboard letters to fall off.
Also I should have a replacement CDROM or DVDRW by then........if not I will get it some other time.
-
What did you use for the key labels?
-
I will post other pictures soon...plus My VJ gear using the CD32/SX32 Pro.
Please post pictures of this! I want to see it. I'm thinking of doing live shows again soon and would love to see another amiga setup!.
-
Superb work, LOVE IT!
-
It looks really good! Makes me want to do something similar with my desktop A1200. Is it true that the innards of CDTV keyboards work in an A1200? If so I think it's time to get one and paint my A1200 black :-)

That sir, is one awesome looking A600. It's amazing you got the paint looking as well as you did!
-
Looks gr8t leirbag. Good work. I always love your amiga hacking. I would leave the case flat black though. NEver was a fan of gloss finish for computers... congrats on the gig. Have fun and break a chip. :) I'm sure all the press will be there taking pictures of your Amiga and not the performance! LOL

That's the best spray-painted Amiga I've ever seen. Very nice work.
I tried spraying my A1200 black once and it was such a mess after the paint had dried I just threw it in the bin.
-
It seems that some paint formulas chemically bond to plastic better than others. Maybe he used a laquer based paint. I hope the clear coat goes well, and the letters don't shrivel.
-
@ leirbag
How well did the Sony 5" LCD work? Was the image crisp? That monitor seems like a good match to the little A600 for a portable Amiga. I like how you painted it to match.
-
Thanks for your comments guys!
Yeah! I hope the letters dont Shrievel...........also I am not painting this with a Gloss finish.......that does indeed look bad.....its going to have a Matte finish. I once SPray painted a CD32 silver! it looked cool as heck ecxept the Piant weas all messy and gloppy.....I really screwed it up.............the secret to this paint I used is that it dries very fast, so you can spray lightly and it sticks well.....but I want to paint a protective shell on this.........it may change the look, for the better or for the worse. Because I painted part of that Silver CD32 with Matte clearcoat ad it suddenly changed into grey (weird)
@Tenacious
yeah the Sony LCD works well....but its not that clear since it is Composite
-
When you say "not that clear since it is composite", does that mean you can't easily read text in a editor? Do colors smear on WB?
Sorry for the cross examination. I've taken my A600 on the road before and used the RF out to drive a TV in a hotel. I had trouble reading the text, editing icons, etc.
-
Before someone hammers me. Yes, I know the difference composite video and the RF signal. My point was that even if I love the OS, not being able to read the screen takes some of the fun out of the experience.
As a side note, I used to take this A600 to user group meetings and connect to a video projector through the composite port. It was surprisingly good. The screen was 5 ft across rather than 5 inches, though. Grin. If it's functional with text and icon editing, this monitor may be a great buy.
-
@Tenacious
Um, You can read the text sometimes...and sometimes you can't........especially in Hires Interlaced............I use Hires 640 x 200 as its more readbale and is Workbench's Native resolution anyway........most apps run in that resolution on native 7mhz Amigas...I also rely on the fact that even if I cant really read the Text..........I know where the items are placed on the ToolsDaemon Menu (Super Duper Huper Flooper Highly recommended!). Using Tools Daemon or just using the "Leave Out" selection on the menu for programs I use most on the Road (incase you dont know..."Leave Out" is like shortcut icons on Windows)
Personally I cannot comprehend why every single Amiga on the Earth does not have Tools Daemon (Amiga's REAL Start Menu)
Also....You can use Larger Fonts for everything (Although Tools Daemon will get cluttered if you have tons of Applications on the Menu as I do).
Oh, and by the way..........there is indeed better LCD screens out there......if you can get one of those Rare RF modulators for Amiga with S-Video OUT and find and LCD screen that has S-Video IN, you might be in luck. Although on LCD screens, S-Video doesnt seem to make an ounce of difference as it still looks like composite to me. LCD's are still not better than CRT's.
By the way.........I got all 5 Sony LCD's on sale for about $62.00 each! :-) thats why I purchased 5 :-D Im sure you c an get them on ebay......buy them with the PSONE even.........then sell off the PSONE alone and get some of you cash back.....then the cost of the LCD might even be less than $60 :-)
