Hi All,
Anyone have experience using the Voodoo (especially voodoo5) video cards in a mediator and then using that video ram as fast ram? Elbox says it can be done. But, I am wondering how easy it is and how much of the 64MB of ram in a 5500 can be used.

im a total novice, but i have noticed no difference at all in speed using a voodoo 3000 16mb and using my a1200 through the normal video out aga port, my screen refresh seems just as slow, the only difference is it can run at higher resolutions with more colours, but even then most games and some apps will only run in pal either through aga or in a window through the voodoo

The Elbox driver only uses one of the GPU's so it only uses 32mb as graphics memory.
I think some other PCI cards use the Voodoo's video memory as DMA buffer..such as the 100mbit network card which can only be used together with a graphicscard in the mediator.
But i would personally choose a Voodoo 3000 instead of a Voodoo 5..I switched from Voodoo 5500 to Voodoo 3000 a month ago because some games have compatibility problems with the Voodoo 5...so called big endian issues..some games show up in weid colours and such..example are Nightlong, Earth 2140

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a voodoo5 card or voodoo3 card, other than ebay? I can't seem to find ANYONE who has any stock left. Too bad they went under. :(

@ jiffydos: Where are you located? There is a store near me which offered one for $20 Australian. I'm guessing that's not going to help you very much though. If you're really interested, and can't find one elsewhere, PM me, and maybe I can help you out. Also, the price may change, as I think the salesman just made up the price on the spot.
